Rascal Does Not Dream series reveals official trailer and release date for new sequel movie

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out is all set to be released in June 2023. The forthcoming movie is going to be the third installment of the anime series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, which had its debut in 2018.

Fans were expecting a surprise like this since 2019, which marked the release of the sequel movie, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. So after receiving the news, they have been seen showering their joy over social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit.

As the official trailer for the forthcoming movie dropped, all the wishes of the global fandom of Rascal Does Not Dream were finally granted. CloverWorks once again took responsibility for the animation and hopefully this time it will be even better than the last two prequels.

The initial announcement of the project can be traced back to the Aniplex Online Fest event on September 2022. The movie will be adapting the 8th and 9th novels from the light novel series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, which is written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keeji Mizoguchi.

The plot of the light novel

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is a story about a high school student named Sakuta Azusagawa who meets teenage actress Mai Sakurajima dressed as a bunny girl in a library. Sakuta is the only one who can see Mai, as other people are unable to see her, even when she is dressing normally or attempting to stay away from celebrity life.

Sakuta calls this phenomenon “Adolescence Syndrome” and decides to solve this mystery while getting closer to Mai and meeting other girls who suffer from the same issue. Mai is intrigued by Sakuta’s ability to see her and they attempt to start a relationship, which is made difficult given the former’s acting work.

Later, Mai is infected by her half-sister Nodoka‘s Adolescence Syndrome, causing both girls to exchange physical appearances. Sakuta helps both sisters reconcile and overcome their issues. Throughout the story, Sakuta meets other girls who suffer from Adolescence Syndrome and helps them overcome their problems.
