Micheol Schnitzler dies at the age of 62

The legendary musician had suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday at around 6 PM in the Monsey region, while returning from spending Pesach in Eretz Yisroel at Airmont. Hatzolah paramedics rushed to the site but were unable to save his life.

Schnitzler was a celebrated singer, with around 15 albums and 150 songs. His untimely demise shocked his followers who sent condolences to the singer’s family on social media. A Twitter user expressed his adoration for the late musician by saying that he “put just the right amount of feeling into every song” he sang. The tweet read:


Micheol Schnitzler started his singing career at a young age

Schnitzler was born to Reb Meshulam Zusha Schnitzler in 1961, Brooklyn, New York. Reb Meshulam Zusha was the son of Harav Shraga Shmuel Schnitzler, the Tchaba Rav. According to chabad.org, a Rav is a Jewish religious leader who is more experienced and trained than a Rabbi.

Schnitzler started his singing career at a very young age and released around 150 hymns in his career. He was a classic Chassidic singer famous for his Yiddish melodies. His listeners say that he had a soothing voice that could connect with his audience.

The musician had dealt with a long history of a heart condition and was previously hospitalized for the same. The singer had lost his brother from similar circumstances in the past.
His brother R’ Sholom Schnitzler passed away from a cardiac arrest in Australia while fundraising for Satmar Institutions. His other two brothers, R’ Yitzchok Aizik Schnitzler, and R’ Boruch Yehuda Schnitzler died at the age of 63 under similar circumstances.

The Levaya for the legendary singer was organized on Sunday, April 16, 2023, Sunday at 10:00 AM at Har Shulem Cemetery. A large crowd gathered to pay their respect to the Jewish musician.
