Housemarque, the Finnish studio behind Returnal, has now been acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Nevertheless, it’s possible that Sony will make more acquisitions in the days ahead. PlayStation Japan shared a picture on Twitter earlier today. They welcomed not only Housemarque but also Bluepoint Games. This is the development company behind the latest Demon’s Souls version, to the PlayStation Studios family.

Bluepoint’s Notable Games

  • Bluepoint Games has built a reputation for releasing high-quality remasters and reboots in past years.
  • God of War and God of War 2, and also Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, have all been reimagined by the developer.
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater were the next games in the series to be remastered by the developer.
  • The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 remakes of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, respectively, were brilliant.

Bluepoint Games chairman Marco Thrush stated last year that if given the chance, he would like to move ahead with Sony. That was saying a lot considering both entities have a long history together spanning numerous PlayStation generations. That was one of the main reasons why numerous PlayStation enthusiasts hoped Sony would make an acquisition.

In fact, it was only earlier this year that rumors started circulating that Sony would be introducing Bluepoint Games on board as a first-party PlayStation studio in the first quarter of 2021. While that never occurred, the group behind the Demon’s Souls rerelease will undoubtedly be an incredible asset to the PlayStation Studios family for PlayStation 5.
