On ESPN’s popular sports talk show First Take, host and analyst Stephen A. Smith celebrated the Dallas Cowboys’ embarrassing defeat against the Washington Commanders

  • Smith did so by wearing a literal Cowboy hat on the show as well as re-enacting a hilarious scene from the movie Next Friday. This came at the expense of Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin is on the show’s sets. 
  • After the skit, Stephen A. Smith continued his mockery of the Dallas Cowboys wearing his cowboy hat and speaking in a Southern accent. In this tone, Smith ridiculed the fact that the Cowboys lost to Sam Howell, a third-string quarterback.
  • Rapper and actor Ice Cube who starred in Next Friday shared Smith’s First Take parody of his movie scene on Twitter.

The Dallas Cowboys got a much-awaited first playoff victory in the Mike McCarthy era. They defeated Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-14 in the NFL Wild Card round.

  • Before the match, Stephen A. Smith showed up on ESPN’s First Take wearing a Tom Brady Buccaneers jersey and a backward baseball cap.
  • Trevon Diggs who plays as a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys fired shots against Stephen A. Smith after their win. The player asked him to watch his mouth in a video message.

The Cowboys have had a long list of Hall of Famers including Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and many more. After their resounding against Brady and the Buccaneers, the Dallas Cowboys face the San Francisco 49ers next in the NFL Divisional round.

Stephen A. Smith is a sports commentator, journalist, and television personality. He is best known for his work as an analyst on ESPN’s First Take, where he frequently offers strong opinions on a wide range of sports topics. 

  • Smith is also a regular contributor to SportsCenter and other ESPN programs. He previously wrote for the New York Daily News and the Philadelphia Inquirer. 

It’s interesting to note that Stephen A. Smith’s hatred for the Dallas Cowboys doesn’t come from their underwhelming performances. In fact, Smith has a more personal reason – his high school sweetheart was a Cowboys fan who dumped him after they lost in the 1985 playoffs.
