Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the fifth entry in the series, has reached a lifetime retail sales of 2,953,145, which is more than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey respectively.
Japan’s current best-seller at retail is Splatoon 2, which stands at a total sales of 2,962,831, followed by Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee! (Bundle Editions included) with 2,178,288 retail sales.
For the week of March 11 through 17, The Division 2 topped the list with 63,817 copies sold at retail. It was followed by One Piece: World Seeker with 51,039 copies sold, Devil May Cry 5 with 33,149 copies sold and finally Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 20,706 copies sold, contributing towards its total of 2,953,145. On the other hand, Splatoon 2 was thirteenth on the list, with just 7,516 copies sold throughout the week.
Games for the Switch have constantly dominated the Japanese video games market as Nintendo Switch has maintained its position as the best-selling console in the country. Even in the week of March 11-17, Switch was the best-seller with 56,954 retail copies sold, followed by the PlayStation 4 with 25,015 copies sold.
