Switch 2’s codename isn’t Muji, it’s a placeholder
I’ve been closely following the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks these past few days. As many guessed, Switch 2’s codename isn’t Muji, it’s a placeholder name Nintendo is using to prevent the actual codename from getting leaked. Inception, but let’s dive into it.
Michael, the creator of Nintendo Switch custom firmware Atmosphere NX, hactool, and other Horizon OS reverse engineering tools has tweeted about Muji being a placeholder name.
They say Muji is not Switch 2’s codename. Instead, Muji or 無地 in Japanese means “plain”. Nintendo is using the Muji there “specifically to avoid leaking the new codename”.
He further wrote, “The actual name can be learned if you’re paying close enough attention and playing along at home, but I’m not in the business of leaking that stuff.”
In another tweet, Michael wrote, “I’m not in the business of leaking this kind of thing (sorry), but for my future self’s ability to prove I know what I’m talking about: ed099f81f8ffcf020b5eb0b93db313ee603155d5826e623c178a9e7b8367cd7d”.
I’m not capable of understanding code, any sort of it. If you think this code means something to you, do let me know.
We’ll keep you updated with more Switch 2 updates.
