The recently held Brazil Comic-Con revealed the official release date of the third season of The Mandalorian. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Din Djarin and Grogu in their titular series. The last was their unusual appearance in the Book of Boba Fett, where they became more of the focus in the second half of the season.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Release Date Specifics and Plot
The Mandalorian Season 3 will make its premiere on March 1, close to what many we expect considering its production dates. The third season assumes you’ve watched or known about the latter half of the Book of Boba Fett. Beware, as there may be potential spoilers if you haven’t seen the show yet:
Spoiler alert*
The second half of the Book of Boba Fett saw Din Djarin and Grogu reunite. Grogu chose to be with Mando instead of continuing his training with Luke Skywalker. The decision felt right in many of the fans’ minds as Grogu had centuries ahead of him compared to his adoptive father figure. The trailer also revealed a lot more details about the show’s direction.
Din Djarin is no longer a Mandalorian in his sect’s eyes because he removed his mask when he said goodbye to Grogu. As such, the only way to restore him is to visit the Mandalorian home world, Mandalore. He must seek a place to cleanse him and allow him back into the fold.
Not only that, but the return there will also mean another appearance from Bo-Katan Kryze. With the show taking a lot of characters from the animated series, we may see more appearances from Star Wars Rebels.
Let’s not forget that Mando is now the rightful wielder of the Dark Saber, which destines him to rule their race. However, Bo-Katan Kryze also wants a claim on leadership but does not want to fight Din Djarin for it. Whether they become enemies this season or find another way to reconcile differences will be a big part of the show’s storyline.
What Else Can We Expect from The Mandalorian Season 3?
There are many directions the third season can take. One of the big surprises of season two was the return of young Luke Skywalker, which restored his character in the fans’ eyes. We’ve already seen Ahsoka, who can also return for an episode or two in the show. Here are a couple of popular fan theories based on Star Wars lore:
- The Mask of Mandalore: Like the Darksaber, the Mask of Mandalore is an iconic possession of the planet’s rulers. It was worn by Mandalore the first, missing since their destruction. There is a possibility that the mask is deep within the Mines of Mandalore, a place Din Djarin will likely visit.
- Ruler of Mandalore: While he is initially unwilling, an event may cause Mando to change his mind and take his place as the rightful ruler of Mandalore. What he does to achieve that is yet to be seen.
