The Witcher 3 Becomes Top-Selling Game on Steam in the UK, Australia, Brazil; 3rd in the US, Poland, Russia
Thanks to Netflix’s The Witcher, a lot of people are getting back into the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The concurrent players for the game have gone up significantly, with a 24-hour peak of 54,833 players. That’s more than Red Dead Redemption 2’s 24-hour peak, as you must have noticed being mentioned everywhere else.
Apparently, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has become the top-selling game on Steam in many countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, India (I’m honestly surprised), Italy, New Zealand, Spain and the UK. In the US, the game currently stands at #3 on the top-selling chart. Other countries where The Witcher 3 stands at #3 are Austria, Indonesia, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and the UAE.
In Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Ireland and Mexico, the game’s on #2 while in Japan, it’s on #13. In Finland, it’s on #4 and in Norway, it’s on #7.
And that’s just figures from Steam. The game has surely seen a resurgence on other platforms, namely the PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
Commenting on Henry Cavill’s performance as Geralt, creator Andrzej Sapkowski said, “I was more than happy with Henry Cavill’s appearance as The Witcher. He’s a real professional. Just as Viggo Mortensen gave his face to Aragorn in The Lord of the RIngs, so Henry gave his to Geralt – and it shall be forever so.”
Although the series was loved by fans, the reviews were quite polarising. On IMDB, the series stands on an 8.8/10 while on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s rating is 56%.
If you ask me, I really enjoyed the series, despite some shortcomings. Nevertheless, it’s well done.
