In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we went up against a lot of enemies, but one in particular caught the eyes of casual and hardcore fans of the Spider-Men. Making her appearance, Scream in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is everything we hoped the Symbiote creation to be. When Mary Jane turned into Scream, it was also one of the best boss fights as a Peter VS Mary Jane fight was something definitely unexpected. For those confused about who Scream is and if it’s Mary Jane’s alter ego, we’ve come up with this quick read to guide you on who this new character is.
Scream is a creation of the Symbiote
When Harry becomes the host of the Symbiote again, it’s up to Peter to try and talk some sense into him before his entire being is corrupted with Venom’s darkness.
Unfortunately, Peter says something that ticks both Harry and the Symbiote off, and before he realizes what is happening, Harry has infected a helpless Mary Jane with the Symbiote. It’s up to Peter to remove Scream’s control over Mary Jane.
The villain’s appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is brief, but it has us thinking of the possibility of seeing other Symbiote variants in the follow-up games.
Where did Scream come from?
Those who kept up with Spidey’s story in the comic books would be familiar with Scream. Though she may look like a female version of Venom, based on how Peter quickly dealt with her, she doesn’t possess the same strength as Venom.

She first appeared in the comics in Venom: Lethal Protector #4. It was revealed that the Life Foundation had extracted more variations of Venom to profit from it and sell the Symbiote to wealthy clients.
Similar to how Venom worked, Scream needed to bond with a host to use her powers and abilities. Over the years, Scream had different hosts over the years, but Insomniac was the first to have the Symbiote latch onto Mary Jane.
