Will Kevin Porter Jr. be suspended by the NBA after another assault case? Find out if the Houston Rockets star’s career is over.
Why was the Rockets shooting guard Arrested?
Kevin Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, called 911 at 6:45 in the morning and reported that she was assaulted by the NBA star. The call was made from the Millennium Hilton Hotel in New York. Shortly after, the cops responded and arrested KPJ.
After an initial investigation, an NYPD spokesperson told ABC News that “Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain in her neck. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck.”

After the incident, the victim was taken to the hospital. According to reports, she and the assailant, Kevin Porter Jr., got into a heated altercation. The reports also revealed that Gondrezick was upset with the Houston Rockets star after he returned late at night to the hotel they were staying at. As a result, she locked the doors and barred Porter Jr. from entering. But, a few moments later, KPJ requested assistance from the hotel management and eventually unlocked the door. Once he was able to enter the room, KPJ quickly started beating up and strangling Gondrezick. This resulted in the woman’s sustained injuries.
Will KPJ still play in the league?
Right now, the NBA is also making its own investigation on the current Kevin Porter Jr. case. Under the terms of the league’s domestic violence policy, Commissioner Adam Silver has the power to place Porter on administrative leave with pay for “a reasonable period of time.” If found guilty and convicted, the commissioner can fine, suspend, dismiss, or disqualify KPJ from any further association with the NBA and its team. That being said, there’s a great chance that not only will Porter Jr. be suspended, but he may even be banned by the league. That means, Kevin Porter Jr.’s career may be over right his very eyes.

On the other hand, as long as no there is no conclusion yet, the Houston Rockets (KPJ’s team) will not be allowed to make their own move such as suspending the NBA player. Last season, Porter Jr. averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in 59 games. At times, you could see the young guard has great potential and could have been a key piece for the Rockets in the future. Unfortunately, that probably won’t be the case any longer.

Kevin Porter Jr.’s History of Violence
Sadly, this isn’t the first time KPJ had a legal issue and tie-up with the police. Back in August 2020, when Porter Jr. was still playing for the Cavaliers, the young NBA star allegedly assaulted a woman in Cleveland by punching her and pulling the victim’s hair. A few months later, in November, Kevin Porter Jr. was in the middle of another incident where he was arrested for possessing a loaded gun which was found out after he was involved in a car accident. Fortunately for him, the charges were eventually dropped but the Cleveland Cavaliers were keeping KPJ on the sidelines.

The last straw for the management was when Kevin Porter Jr. had a locker outburst where he reportedly threw food at the then-Cavs GM, Koby Altman. According to reports, KPJ was furious after he noticed Taurean Prince took over his locker. After this incident, the Cavaliers decided to let him go and traded Kevin to the Houston Rockets. But, with another assault case, Kevin Porter Jr. might not see another action in the NBA.
