XRIG X1-01 is one of the most beautiful, classy and well-performing custom gaming PCs in India. Although the price is a bit over the belt, the PC lives up to its promises.
Since the age of four, I have been an avid game-lover and in the course of ten years of gaming, I’ve seen, experienced and learned a lot about it. Although I’ve always been such a hyperactive bouncer of video games, I was never up-to-date with the latest of hardware. Partially because I wasn’t interested, and mostly as my pockets were always empty. The XRIG X1-01 did bring a change in my taste. It is fast, has optimized specs and gives a great performance.
Price
The price is a bit over the belt. The XRIG X1-01 costs Rs. 51, 990. Check it out on Amazon.
Specs
Having always played on an HD7770, it was the time I go for a change. The X1-01 comes with the GTX 1050Ti 4GB which is a mediocre beast in itself, packed with 8gigs of RAM and the Intel i3 7100 @ 3.9Ghz. Here are the specs of my current PC –
CPU: i3 2100 @ 3.1Ghz
Ram: 8GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD7770
And here are the specs of my XRIG X1-01 –
CPU: i3 7100 @ 3.9GHz
Ram: 8GB 2400MHz DDR4
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050Ti 4GB
I had been waiting for the X1-01 for a month and just last week, it arrived. The FedEx guy called me and informed about my package. Without further ado, I ran to the FedEx office, signed, carried the 6-kilo package and ran for home. I unboxed the 2 packages, one from FedEx, and on the inside, was the XRIG retail packaging, which was pretty cool too. Once clearing up the paper boxes, the real deal shined from the inside. A red, glossy rectangular beast, waiting to be pulled out of the box.
What’s Inside The Package
The mini-computer is light and portable. Plus it comes with a custom-made case for you to carry the beast around to your friends’ houses for LAN parties. Here’s everything that comes in the package –
XRIG X1-01 PC
HDMI Cable
Power Cable
XRIG Quick Manual
Warranty Card, which is an extreme necessity
A Backup Pendrive
Lots of Gaming Energy
Pre-Installed Softwares
The last one is the best part. The XRIG comes with pre-installed Windows 10, which you’ll have to activate of course, and all major digital game distribution software – Steam, Uplay, Origin and GOG Galaxy. I unpacked everything, connected the XRIG to my TV screen and waited for the magic to happen. But, nothing happened. Oh! There were no games. Of course.
Benchmarks
I tested all the games on a 1920x1080p resolution TV.
Geekbench CPU: 4179 (Single-Core). 7963 (Multi-Core)
Geekbench GPU: 89430 (OpenCL)
Cinebench CPU: 368 points
Cinebench GPU: 95.24 FPS
GTA V: 35-45 FPS (Ultra); 60 FPS (Low)
Witcher 3: 40 FPS (Ultra); 60+ FPS (Low)
Dota 2: 60 FPS (Ultra); 120 FPS (Low)
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice: 48-60 FPS (Ultra); 60+ FPS (Low)
Games’ Performance
I had six games at the time of reviewing the PC –
Dota 2 – which I play every single day
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – can’t even go past the tutorial on my main PC as it gives potato performance
Watch Dogs 2 – played dozens of hours but wanted to replay it
PUBG – come on you can’t write a PC review without testing this brilliant “made-for-testing” game
Witcher 3 – the game I kept archived to play when the X1-01 arrives
GTA V – A brilliant game to begin benchmarking
I presume many of you already have great PCs with jaw-dropping specs, and that’s fine. The XRIG is for those who want a pre-built gaming PC with extensive support and warranty, within a decent budget.
Dota 2
First, I started testing Dota 2. I got 60 frames per second with a bit of flickering at times. Even while recording the gameplay, I didn’t face many issues. The only issue was with the electricity in our town. Had a few shutdowns and god, they were awful.
For those of you who don’t know, if you disconnect from a Dota 2 match for more than 5 minutes, you receive an abandon, which can lead you to a 6-month ban, or a hell life in the low-priority world. Luckily after the X1-01 shut down, I started it immediately and joined the match before 5 minutes.
That was never possible on my main PC. Never! I guess by now, you have imagined how much of a struggling gamer I am. Moving on.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
This game is one of the unique adventure narratives I played in many years. The first time I touched Senua’s Sacrifice, it ran like a goddamn nightmare. Yep. It was my PC. After just a few footsteps and sword-fighting, I left the game and let Senua suffer from whatever she was cursed.
The next time I played the game was on the X1-01 which gave a brilliant performance, a solid 60 FPS gameplay and all the chills with spooky human voices echoing in my headphone domes. Although that solely is a plus point of the hardware inside the box, we can say, XRIG has done a good job assembling the best products at a balanced price.
I’ll describe why you should go for an XRIG instead of building your own PC, especially in today’s world, by the end of this super-lengthy article. Well, don’t have the patience? Fine, just scroll to the bottom of the page. You’re welcome.
Watch Dogs 2
Watch Dogs ran pretty smooth as well. You can’t play the game at Ultra settings with every detail enabled but the PC does a good job at High settings. I completed almost half of the game on my own PC, and with the XRIG, I can’t wait to finish it off.
PUBG
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was fascinating to play as well. When I finished downloading the game, the only worry that buzzed me was “was it worth my money?”. Of course, after you’ve read a dozen articles on how poor performing this game is, that thought never gets out of your head. But, thanks to Bluehole’s extreme hardship and XRIG’s blessing, the game ran on Ultra settings with no glitches, bugs or whatsoever.
Witcher 3
A visual masterpiece indeed. The first time I played the game was, yep, on my potato. I couldn’t get past the tutorial. And for some weird psychological reasons, I blamed the game. I felt the game was overrated and that it’s not as fascinating as people describe it to be. But my initial thoughts poofed away with the performance the XRIG gave me. All I can say at this point is, it was a damn amazing experience.
GTA V
GTA V. One of the best games I have played in my entire life. Not because of it being an open-world manhunting massacre simulator, but because it is heavily optimized for all types of PCs. I played the game on Ultra on my own PC. Can you believe it? I can’t. But I did. With the XRIG, I didn’t think twice before sliding every possible thing in the graphics menu, activated each and every feature and yet, played the game with a blindfold of comfort.
Now comes the main question. Why go for an XRIG instead of making your own PC.
The Burning Topic
Really? This is a question? Maybe you need to step out of your homes and visit the stores that sell the components that power your gaming rig. RAM prices have been on the rise ever since mobiles and other handheld devices started cramming in better, more powerful memory to improve their computational power.
If that itself isn’t enough, GPU prices have been soaring because of the cryptocurrency mining craze. People buy graphics cards by the tons and using them to mine cryptocurrency. Most gamers thought this to be mostly a First World thing, and that it won’t raise its ugly clutches in Third World countries – how wrong were we to underestimate the hidden stash of black money of the assumed ‘poor’ in these countries.
At first, high-end models of only AMD were used for mining, when Bitcoin was the standard, and then came the rise of Ethereum, when models of all sorts started being used for mining. Thanks to the craze, people are even buying low-end models like 1050Ti’s,1050’s and 460’s.
As crazy as it sounds, you’re not lazy to not assemble your PC using separately bought parts – you’re the wise one. Pre-builts are much cheaper than the sum of the individual components, and until the cryptocurrency mining craze goes away or giants like NVIDIA or AMD do something about it, pre-builts like the XRIG X1-01 are going to be the weapon of choice to survive in the Megapocalypse.
That’s all folks! We’ve recorded a few gameplays and other videos with the XRIG which would be out anytime soon. Make sure to subscribe to our push-notifications to never miss an updated related to the same. Until next time, Happy Gaming!
