In 2022, actor Nam Joo-hyuk faced accusations of school bullying by a former classmate. However, his agency promptly refuted these claims and warned legal action against those who spread false and defamatory news.
A year after the incident, Korean news outlets shared an update about the case stating that Nam Joo-hyuk had attempted to reconcile with his former classmate who accused him of bullying. However, the two could not reach an agreement due to their differences in the recollection of the events that took place years ago.
Accuser shares an alleged sparring video as evidence against Nam Joo-hyuk
On April 26, 2023, the former classmate released an alleged video through entertainment journalist and YouTuber Lee Jin-ho. The video features the accuser engaged in sparring with a male classmate in the classroom. Viewers can hear other students instructing him to kick, but the accuser loses his balance and falls while kicking in the air, leading to laughter from the onlookers.

In the same video, Lee Jin-ho shared a statement from Nam Joo-hyuk’s former classmate. The accuser claimed that he participated in the sparring unwillingly because he wished to avoid the ridicule directed towards him by his peers. He further alleges that actor Nam Joo-hyuk’s voice can be heard in the background.
Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency once again denies the bullying allegations
About the alleged video uploaded on Lee Jin-ho’s YouTube, Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency SOOP released an official statement. They once again strongly refuted the school bullying allegation and shared that Nam Joo-hyuk learned about the video from his previous meeting. They also shared that they are in the process of proving their actor’s innocence by legal means.

Meanwhile, netizens question the credibility of the video stating the video is too vague to claim as evidence. They also expressed their frustration with the case with all the recent updates implying both the parties involved in the case aren’t reaching any resolution.
