Apex Legends is Now Playable on Linux; Official EAC Support

There’s a high chance that Apex Legends will be playable on the Steam Deck. There have been concerns regarding its compatibility with Steam Deck because of the device’s Linux-based operating system. But thankfully, Apex Legends is finally compatible to play with Linux.

Easy-Anti Cheat is supported on Steam Deck, so it will be supported on Linux-based PCs.

There is no official word yet from Valve regarding Apex Legend’s availability on the Steam Deck. But players using Linux-based machines are starting to share how they are able to play and complete Apex matches. Players using Linux were previously unable to play the game because EAC wasn’t supported on the operating system yet.

Footage of Apex Legends on Steam Deck is also making rounds on social media. The gameplay on the handheld device looks a bit flimsy. Some players also pointed out that you had to play a few games before the game’s textures properly loaded. But all we have to do is wait for Apex Legends to be officially included in Steam Deck’s “Playable/Verified” list to see improvements.

This development is a big step not only for Steam Deck owners but for the Linux ecosystem as a whole.

Steam Proton was a thing before so Linux users could play games requiring EAC. But with this news, Apex Legends is finally available for players on Linux systems.

We assume this will be the first of many EAC-dependent games being playable on Linux. What do you think about this news? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments down below. For more content, stay with us, here at Spiel Times.
