Steam Deck, the most anticipated handheld computer from Valve has finally dropped. Last February 25, Valve sent the first batch of reservers order confirmations through email.
In an announcement posted on their website, Valve explains how the ordering and shipping process will be carried out. Valve will send out the next batch of emails for Q1 reservers on March 7. It will continue every Monday through the rest of March for buyers in the Q1 queue. Reservers in the Q2 reservation window can expect to hear from Valve sometime in April.
Once reservers receive an email from Valve confirming their reservation, they have 72 hours to complete it. If a buyer fails to respond to the email within 72 hours, their slot is forfeited and given to the next reserver in the queue.
There are no updates yet for Q3 and Q4 reservations.
But hopefully, Valve will sort out Q3 and Q4 orders so they won’t be shipped out on a weekly basis. Steam Deck’s original release date was for December 2021.
But due to production and supply chain issues, its release date was pushed back. This may explain Valve following a weekly release for Q1 and Q2. Fingers crossed this won’t be the issue “for folks in the After-Q2 bucket.”
Along with its launch, Valve released a game called Aperture Desk Job designed for the device.
Aperture Desk Job is a simulator whose purpose is to introduce the Steam Deck to users. The game will teach users how to navigate through the controls and features of the Steam Deck in an interactive and creative manner.
Aperture Desk Job will be available to download starting March 2. It will also be a free game. The game will also be available for players using a Windows PC, but you will need a controller to play it.
