Best Way to Beat Ancient Dragon Senessax | Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The electrifying fight against the Ancient Dragon Senessax in Shadow of the Erdtree is causing many players frustration. But don’t worry. We might just have the strategy to help you win this battle.
| Located near the top of Jagged Peak. You’ll encounter this boss as part of the main path through the area shortly after defeating the twin dragons. |
Best Strategy
The wide-area lightning attack is a real killer. It’s unpredictable, hard to dodge, and can easily catch you in its secondary wave. Your best bet is to watch the dragon’s movements closely and time your dodges perfectly. Oh, and did we mention Senessax loves to chain attacks together? It’s like a lightning-fueled combo breaker.
One Redditor shared their tip on the best way they were able to beat this dragon. For NG7 players, keep your distance with a bow or magic. Radahn’s bow and spears as arrows are particularly effective.
Why this enemy is a challenge:
This dragon is surprisingly nimble for its size, making its attacks hard to anticipate. Ancient Dragon Senessax’s lightning attacks, especially that wide-area zap, can melt your health bar faster than an ice cube in a volcano. The fight often takes place in tight spaces, making it hard to see what the dragon’s up to.
Ancient Dragon Senessax’s Skills
- Thunderous Roar: A full-body zap that’ll leave you feeling like you stuck your finger in a light socket. Ouch!
- Lightning Strikes: Senessax calls down a shower of lightning bolts.
- Electric Breath: A cone of pure electricity that’ll fry you to a crisp.
- Wing Swipe: One flap from those massive wings and you’ll be seeing stars.
- Tail Whip: Think of this as a whip-crack from a lightning-charged jump rope. Don’t get caught in its path!
Additional Tips
- Don’t be a sitting duck. Equip talismans and armor that boosts your lightning resistance. You can use the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman and the Bull-Goat’s Armor set.
- If you’re comfortable on a horse, Torrent’s speed and agility will help you dodge and weave like a pro. Dodge like Neo and use Master the Bloodhound’s Step for some lightning-fast evasive maneuvers.
- Focus your attacks on those tree-trunk legs to make the dragon stumble. Get good at dodging those lightning attacks, especially the wide-area ones. Watch the dragon’s movements and learn the timing of the lightning waves. Remember, jumping won’t save you, so stick to dodge rolls.
