DotA 2: Top 5 Support Heroes in 7.31b

DotA 2 (Defense of the Ancients 2) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game that has been around since 2013. Since its release, it has been a massive hit and has already millions of players enjoying the game. This article lists the top 5 Support heroes in 7.31b patch.

With its latest update, 7.31b, the game has already changed so much. Every game is highlighted by the amazing skills of the core hero or the carry, but what really is the x-factor of a team’s victory are the sacrifices of the SUPPORTS.

If you want to gain more MMR as a support, you might want to consider picking these heroes:

  • Skywrath Mage
  • Clockwerk
  • Shadow Shaman
  • Treant Protector
  • OmniKnight

SKYWRATH MAGE

Skywrath Mage is a nuker intelligence-based hero who is still as deadly as it was before. His powerful magical skills are extremely useful (and annoying at the same time) during team fights and ganking. His skills’ damage relies on the amount of his intelligence.

With the latest update on Null Talisman (Skywrath’s standard early starting items) which enables the item to have double bonuses after the 25-minute mark, Skywrath becomes more deadly on the offense.

Best item/s: Null Talisman, Rod of Atos, Veil of Discord, Scythe of Vyse, Arcane Blink Dagger

Winrate:52.7%

CLOCKWERK

Clockwerk is a great initiator who can also sustain great amounts of damage. His Grappling Hookshot skill allows him to be a mobile support who does not need any initiating times like Blink Dagger, Force Staff, or Silver Edge. He can easily disable an opponent with his Battery Assault and Power Cogs. His Rocket Flares are also very useful in scouting enemy lanes and jungles for a possible ambush.

Best item/s: Blademail, Shiva’s Guard, Pipe of Insight, Radiance, Lotus Orb

Winrate: 49.51%

SHADOW SHAMAN

The latest update on Shadow Shaman is a bit crazy. His SHACKLES can now heal the shaman, as well as inflict damage on the enemy. This just adds another reason why enemies should focus on stopping the skill.

Shackles and Hex are two of his greatest disabling skills, which are both extremely useful for a support. He’s also great in the laning phase since he has high base damage which can disrupt the enemies’ strategies.

Best item/s: Aghanim’s Scepter, Refresher Orb, Blink Dagger, Scythe of Vyse

Winrate: 52.14%

TREANT PROTECTOR

Treant Protector is the ever benevolent ally that grants his regenerating armor, healing, and fortification towards a companion, friendly units, and infrastructures.

He can slow enemies using Nature’s grasp, heal allies with Leech Seed and Living Armor, and finally, crowd control using Overgrowth. To add, buying Aghanim’s Scepter adds more skill to Treant – Eyes in the Forest. This skill allows him to enchant a tree, making it an unknown observer ward.

Best item/s: Aghanim’s Scepter, Aghanim’s Shard, Guardian Greaves, Refresher Orb

Winrate: 51.7%

OMNIKNIGHT

The most OP support in the latest update is no other than the almighty Guardian of the Sentinel, OMNIKNIGHT.

What makes him the best support to pick is his new skills – Heavenly Grace and Hammer of Purity.

Heavenly Grace is a skill that applies a strong dispel on debuffs. If he applies this skill to an ally, both the ally and Omni receive a dispel, bonus health regeneration, plus bonus strength. With just this, they can already sustain trading damages with the opposing heroes.

Hammer of Purity, on the other hand, enables Omniknight to fire his hammer to a target to deal pure damage based on a percentage of his base damage and slows the target.

Skill Tip: Apply Heavenly Grace on yourself (or on an ally) first to gain that bonus damage.  Then release your Hammer of Purity towards an enemy. Why? Because Heavenly Grace adds a bonus to your base damage, which is the basis of the Hammer of Purity skill’s damage.

Best item/s: Drum of Endurance, Lotus Orb, Aether Lens, Crimson Guard, Pipe of Insight

Winrate: 53.48%
