Square Enix had few of most anticipated games in store for us in E3 2019. In case you need some catching up to do, you will find information and trailers on the most popular games they showed in this one convenient place.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
We had already learned much about Final Fantasy VII before Square Enix’s conference including its 3rd March 2020 release date but they still had enough content for us to awe at. Kitase Yoshinori, the director of several Final Fantasy games including VII took the stage expressing his happiness to announce this game. He thanked the long-time fans for their support as well as patience over these years. He also explained how the game will be in two parts, one in Midgar while the other outside it, each taking two separate Blu-ray discs.
The remake will feature a hybrid mode. You will be able to enjoy the combat both in the glory of real-time as well as in the sangfroid of a tactical mode.
Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers
Square Enix’s conference had a lot of Final Fantasy content. Not only do fans get a remake of one of the most popular games of the franchise but Yoshida Naoki, the producer of the online Final Fantasy game announced a new expansion pack for Final Fantasy XVI which is to be released on 2nd of July. The expansion itself is apparently large enough to be considered a standalone game.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
Yet another Final Fantasy trailer. Unlike its predecessor, the 8th game of Final Fantasy will not get a remake. The remaster will come out on PS4, XBOX ONE, Switch and Steam in 2019.
Dying Light 2
Square Enix will act as the distributor of Dying Light 2 in North America so it was expected that they would show some of it in their conference. We already got to see a story trailer at Microsoft’s conference. Square Enix showed us some brief gameplay featuring the parkour. Not much has changed when it comes to the parkour system except now we have some Prince of Persia style wall running.
Outriders
Outriders a 3-player cooperative shooter by People Can Fly that is scheduled to come out on Summer 2020. The characters are some sort of soldiers in a post-apocalyptic environment.
Life is Strange 2
The second game of Life is Strange is being plagued by inconsistent release. However, now we know that the 4th episode will come out on the 22nd of August.
The Last Remnant – Switch
The remastered version of Square Enix’s RPG has come out on Nintendo Switch. It is available on the eShop.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
A demo will be available on the PlayStation Store on June 27, the full release will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Switch on July 12.
Dragon Quest 11 Echoes Of An Elusive Age Definitive Edition
The definitive edition of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition will arrive on the Nintendo switch on 29th September.
Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind
Square Enix has a trailer for Kindom Hearts 3 Re:Mind to remind you there’s a DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3 coming up this winter
Romancing Saga 3 and Saga Scarlet Grace
SaGa 3 Remastered is coming out on a bunch of platforms, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Android and Microsoft Windows. The latest SaGa game, Scarlet Grace Ambitions will also be coming to the west. No release date was given.
Oninaki
Tokyo RPG’s Onikagi will come to Switch, PlayStation 4 as well as Steam on 22nd August.
Marvel’s Avengers
The long-awaited Avengers game finally has a trailer. Crystals Dynamics, the developers of Tomb Raiders will bring us this game. It doesn’t seem to be connected to MCU, it may have some inspiration from it, nevertheless, it is an original take on the Avengers. You will be able to play as multiple characters including Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, other characters are unconfirmed but there are many more heroes to come.
I would have preferred a single player game but it seems to be a service based 4 player multiplayer game. Fortunately, it was declared that it will not have any lootboxes. It will come out on 15th May next year.
