EA ties up with Mario Kart Live devs for Knockout City
Video game publisher and developer Electronic Arts has partnered with Mario Kart Live developer Velan Studio for their new game Knockout City, that they describe as “an action-packed team-based multiplayer game that brings skill, depth and style to the game of dodgeball.”
A PC only closed beta will run from February 20-21 at 7:00 a.m. PT–8:00 p.m. PT | 10:00 a.m. ET–11:00 p.m. ET | 3:00 p.m. UTC – 4:00 a.m. UTC and will be accessible to a limited number of players on Steam.
“At Velan we obsess over finding new play experiences. Knockout City starts with the deceptively simple concept of throwing and catching a ball and layers in an incredible amount of skill, depth and style, for a refreshingly fun competitive multiplayer experience that you have to play to believe,” Karthik Bala, CEO of Velan, told via a press release. “It ain’t just dodgeball, it’s dodgeBRAWL. Since we first found that magic in the game, we haven’t been able to stop playing and we can’t wait to share that experience with some of you during this weekend’s first closed beta.”
The game is slated for official launch on May 21, 2021 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch with full cross-play feature and backwards compatibility and enhancements on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
