Elden Ring: Map Fragments, Where To Find

Map Fragments are extremely valuable in Elden Ring. It should always be the first thing a player must seek while exploring a new location. The Lands Between is filled with Map Fragments and they’re easy to find. This is because they consistently spawn on the same monument which is fairly easy to find.

The map of Elden Ring is originally empty. To fill in the gaps and travel the Lands Between, you’ll need Map Fragments.

Elden Ring features a map for the first time in a FromSoftware RPG. The map, however, does little to direct you to spots of interest. In fact, unless you collect Map Fragments, the map is virtually completely empty of detail.

The world map is revealed through Map Fragments, but only in little chunks. Map Fragments are somewhat jigsaw pieces to a sub-region of a bigger zone. Having all of them for a region can also help with navigation and orientation.

When you pick up a map fragment, it is automatically added to your world map, though it just shows the basic terrain, routes, and natural elements of the area. The game allows players to use Map Markers for a reason as they’re the only way to mark locations of interest, making it much easier to find a boss, a hidden NPC, or a crafting material source.

Where To Find

First, take a closer look at your blank map. Look for worn obelisk-like markings alongside the faint outlines of roadways. These smudge-like marks indicate where a Beacon can be found.

At the base of these Beacons, which are tall monuments that stick out from the roadside, you can find map fragments for a certain location. Place a Beacon on these points with the map screen open to highlight their location in the world with a beam of light that can be seen from a long distance.

Some of these Beacons are guarded by opponents, such as the first Map Fragment at the Gatefront Ruins Site of Lost Grace, which is held by a small force of Godrick Soldiers.
