Every Spider-Man in the new Across the Spider-Verse trailer + What you missed

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer

The new official trailer for Across the Spider-Verse swept away Spider-Man fans off their feet. Miles Morales, Peter B Parker, and Spider-Gwen’s return to the Spider-Verse will feature a variety of new, unexplored universes brought to life with path-breaking animation and art styles.

The trailer included many returning characters from Into the Spider-Verse along with a flurry of new Spider-Verse entrants. Read to find out more about the Spider-Man variants who made a blink-and-miss appearance in the new trailer.

Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Woman

Miguel O’Hara or Spider-Man 2099’s inclusion in the Across the Spider-Verse trailer is practically a no-brainer. Voiced by Oscar Isaac, the red and deep-blue-suited Spider-Man 2099 was teased in Into the Spider-Verse as well.

  • Issa Rae voices Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman who doesn’t share Spider-Man’s powers as the name suggests. While she cannot shoot webs, she can still fly.
  • Spider-Woman was actually created by Stan Lee to stop DC and other comic book companies from creating a superhero who sounded similar to the iconic Spider-Man.

Spider-Punk and Bombastic Bag-Man

Hobie Brown is voiced by Get Out and Nope star Daniel Kaluuya. Norman Osborn’s radioactive waste turns Hobie Brown into Spider-Man in the comics.

  • The Bag-Man character from the trailer is from a crossover universe of Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. The name was given after Peter Parker of this universe uses a bag as a getaway Spidey suit, after separating from a symbiote in Reed Richards’ lab.

Other Spider-Man glimpses

We see a caped Spider-Man Unlimited, an MCU Spider-Man resembling the Far from Home suit, Spider-Man Zero made for Fortnite, and Mary Jane’s superhero alias Spinnerette and her daughter Nestling.

Across the Spider-Verse cast

Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld return as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. Other familiar voices include Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson and Luna Lauren Vélez.

  • Jason Schwartzman as The Spot and Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk are new and exciting additions to the voice cast. And of course, Oscar Isaac lends his voice to Spider-Man 2099.

The Plot and Release

The film will feature more superheroes who will join Miles and Gwen as they embark on an epic adventure across the Multiverse to face a seemingly unstoppable villain, Spider-Man 2099.

  • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in two parts, directed by Kemp Powers, Joaquim dos Santos, and Justin K. Thompson.
  • Part One releases in June 2023 and a third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is also on the cards.

Since the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen have been a huge hit among comic book fans and moviegoers alike. With more exciting characters like Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Punk coming up next, it’s hard to ground our expectations from going off the roof.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse changed the landscape for the iconic character as well as the entire animation industry. So, it makes sense why the sequel Across the Spider-Verse is eagerly awaited.
