For the second World Cup in a row, Team USA goes home without a medal again. Canada beat the USA in overtime, 127-118, making the Canadians the Bronze medalist of the tournament.
Let them talk.

Canada defeats Team USA in a thrilling fashion, thanks to the heroics of Houston Rockets’ forward Dillon Brooks
The Canadian star was cooking the USA as he put up 39 points while shooting 7-8 from three. His scoring output makes history as the first Canadian player with the most points scored in a FIBA Basketball World Cup game since Carl Ridd in 1954. Not only that, but Dillon Brooks was also everywhere on the court as he tallied five assists, four rebounds, one steal, and two blocks. On the other hand, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted 31 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds, while New York Knicks’s rising star RJ Barrett also produced a nice 23-piece and seven boards.
Although Team USA fought hard during the regulation, with Mikal Bridges forcing the game into overtime, Canada’s shooting from long range was too much to handle for the Americans. Anthony Edwards led the team in scoring with 24 points, followed by Mikal Bridges and Austin Reaves, who had 23 and 19, respectively. Sadly, Team USA will go home to their country without even the bronze medal. On the other hand, Canada made history by winning their first-ever World Cup medal.

Fans react to Dillon Brooks’ performance and Team USA’s failed World Cup run
It’s safe to say that Noah Lyles trolling the NBA Finals really aged well. A few weeks ago, the track-and-field star made a controversial statement about the NBA champions, claiming they are “World Champions.” In Lyles’ own words, “World Champions of what?”. His statement sparked controversy and backlash from fans, especially from NBA players, saying he did not know what he was talking about. However, with Team USA losing yet again on the international stage, Noah Lyles surely takes the win.
It’s disappointing enough to see the USA bow down to Germany in the semifinals. What made it worse was that they did not even secure a medal in the World Cup after losing to Canada. On the contrary, Dillon Brooks won the MVP and brought home a bronze medal to his country. In addition, he’s getting a lot of praise and even received the nickname “Dillon Bronze.” Because of that, the internet was filled with memes and various fan reactions from all over the world. After his exceptional game, Brooks just became the NBA’s most hated player to the Canadian player who sent Team USA home in the World Cup.

Is it high time to bring out the best NBA players for Team USA? Should LeBron James commit to the 2024 Olympics, recreate the Redeem Team, and bring back the title for World Champions?
