Fortnite just announced an upcoming update. This update will entail several balance changes to various weapons new to Chapter 3. It seems that this update has a divisive element attached to it as some weapons will be nerfed, and other weapons will be strengthened.
The popular free-to-play battle royale title from Epic Games is now in the second month of its inaugural Chapter 3 season. The “Flipped” season features a brand-new map, as well as a few fan-favorite POIs. The first season of Fortnite Chapter 3 brought a slew of new goods and weapons. However, some of those weapons went through alteration in the current update.
Nerf vs. Boost
As revealed on the official Twitter handle of Fortnite, the new balance update seems to have an impact on the three weapons’ rarities. These three particular weapons consist of the Stringer SMG, MK-Seven Assault Rifle, and the Auto Shotgun.
In order of rarity, we can see that for Stinger SMG, the damage rate has been slashed down to 18/19/20/21/22/24 to 16/17/18/19/20/22.

This is also is applicable in the case of the MK-Seven Assault Rifle. This weapon is getting nerfed from 21-26 to 20-25. While some got nerfed, the only weapon getting boosted is the Auto Shotgun. The entire reload time for this weapon saw a drastic reduction of two seconds, that is, from 8.8-6.8 to a whopping 6.2-4.8.
Fortnite dropped further indications that more balance changes of weapons will be evaluated as the season progresses. This balance changes update comes in right after another update went live a day before. The former update 19.0 included extreme weather conditions to the island. This means that players will be exposed to tornadoes and lightning on the island. While lightning might be hazardous for players, it will translate to a few moments of the speed boost.
