An open-world mobile MMORPG based on the Game of Thrones universe has recently been unveiled by Netmarble. Westeros, here we come!
- Iron Throne, a mobile multiplayer game based on Game of Thrones, was launched by Netmarble a few years ago. However, there is no question that this one’s objectives were a far way from the new title’s goals.
- Netmarble Neo is working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and HBO to create the next massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Game of Thrones. Apparently, it’ll recreate Westeros in an open environment and tell a fresh tale.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the game. For example, we know it will be launched exclusively on mobile devices, but which ones? We don’t know the final title or release date either. As the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, Netmarble Neo promises “hyper-realistic console-quality” visuals. For now, we’ll have to wait and see how the game looks on our devices before we can give it a proper review.
Game of Thrones (Mobile)
As with any MMO, we should expect a robust multiplayer experience as well as a rich single-player one that will be shaped by community activities. Netmarble Neo CEO Park Beom-jin, who is in charge of the game’s development, boasts that the company has combined the rich single-player experience with the stunning large-scale multiplayer experience into a single game. The game will showcase dynamic weather in a promised massive Westeros, where heavy combat will take place.
Since the tale will take place within the same time period as the main plot but in parallel to it, it will cover a story that hasn’t yet been revealed (at least in the series; we don’t have any specifics on the “unpublished” version of events yet). You’ll recognize some of the characters from the film. According to Park Beom-jin, fans of the series may achieve their ambition of forming a story in this world that is exactly like the one you read in the book.
