Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, the developer of popular games like Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid is reportedly taking on a next project called “Overdose”. According to a reliable leaker named Tom Henderson of TryHardGuides, Kojima Productions’ upcoming project will be a horror video game that Hideo Kojima always wanted to make for a long time now.
The Leak
In Henderson’s article, he stated that he had received leaked footage of the game’s run-through from an anonymous sender. From Henderson’s point of view, it was a scene that featured Margaret Qualley (who appeared in Death Stranding as Mama) wearing what looks to be a blue dress. After the successful debut of Death Stranding in 2019, Kojima was already having dreams of making a “revolutionary” horror game soon. A month after his masterpiece’s release, the then 55-year-old Kojima was already preparing for his next project by watching a handful of horror movies.
Although the title Overdose and its overall concept are nothing but speculations, Henderson is optimistic that Kojima’s latest project will be announced very soon. After the article was published, Kojima Productions told TryHardGuides to take it down. But, it was then respectfully refused by the publishing website. Henderson is also certain that it is not Death Stranding 2 as Walking Dead and Death Stranding actor, Norman Reedus, confirmed that the second installment to Death Stranding is still in the early stages of development.

Hideo Kojima’s “Horror Game” Aspirations
Hideo Kojima seems to have a knack for horror and thrills. Back when Kojima was still working with Konami, a project involving the powerhouse videogame developer (Konami) and an award-winning director, Guillermo del Toro, was supposed to be taking on a new Silent Hill video game. Unfortunately, Konami and Kojima parted ways in 2015, marking the end of their partnership. It was a bitter-sweet event resulting in the cancellation of the Silent Hills game.

In line with this, during the Xbox Bethesda showcase yesterday, Hideo Kojima hinted that he will be partnering with Xbox to create a game “he has always wanted to make”.
“It’s a completely new game that no one has ever experienced or seen before,” Kojima said during the showcase. “I’ve waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it.”
There was nothing more confirmed aside from the Kojima Productions and Xbox partnership. However, Kojima leaves his Death Stranding fans a lot to look out for in the future.
Is something brewing here? Is it really Overdose? Or is it something else?
