Muzan’s early life
Muzan Kibutsuji was born during the Heian era. Over 1,000 years ago, before the Taisho era, he was a stillborn. However, when he was about to be cremated, he coughed up blood on his pyre, showcasing his stubborn nature.
Muzan has always been a very sick little boy since he was born. During his teenage years, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness that reduced his lifespan to the age of 20. Disheartened to know this, Muzan went on a quest to find a cure for his illness and live long. However, he encountered several obstacles before he could cure himself.
Muzan’s journey to immortality
Before his 20th birthday, Muzan roamed Japan to seek help from various medical practitioners to cure himself. He was desperate and was trying to look for a permanent solution that would put him away from his misery.
During this journey, Muzan was experimented on by several physicians to find a cure for his illness. Gradually, he became desperate to become immortal and get cured of his disease.
However, there was one physician, who injected him with the concoction of the Blue Spider Lily. After being injected, Muzan didn’t feel any significant change in his body. Out of rage and fear of failure, Muzan killed his physician.
However, after murdering his physician, he realized that his body is feeling much better than before and now he has gained an inhuman strength. He also found that his eyes gradually became piercing red like blood.
The medicinal concoction given to Muzan by the physician made him immortal and further made him the first demon in the world.
Muzan’s thirst for Blue Spider Lily
Once Muzan discovered his inhuman abilities and super strength, he realized that he could not go out in sunlight. The sun exposure burns his skin and causes him to become weak and perish instantly.
This upset him immensely. He also found his newfound thirst for blood and human flesh. During the nighttime, he started feasting on humans to nourish himself and gain strength. However, it didn’t give him the ability to withstand sunlight.
To conquer sunlight, Muzan started transfusing his blood to other dying individuals or humans. He created many more demons with his blood to see whether any one of them could withstand daylight or not.
