Demon Slayer manga has officially waved goodbye

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ended with the release of the very last chapter of the series, Chapter 205 on May 18, 2020. The manga’s ending was well-received by fans and offers a sense of closure and satisfaction.

The ending of the whole series was delivered in two parts. Chapter 204 focused completely on the surviving characters of the series and their final confrontation with the main antagonist of Demon Slayer, Muzan Kibutsuji. Whereas, the  last one, Chapter 205 head-started with time-skip, which landed at the reincarnations and future generations of the pivotal characters.

In Chapter 204, readers were transported to a world where the survivors of the epic battle against the nefarious Muzan Kibutsuji were attempting to rebuild their lives. The narrative was dense with emotion, as the characters struggled to come to terms with the events that had transpired.

Starting three months after Muzan’s defeat, the penultimate chapter of Demon Slayer revealed a surprising twist. Tanjiro, our beloved protagonist, made a remarkable recovery from his near-transformation into a demon. However, the injuries he sustained during the battle had left lasting effects on his human form, including permanent damage to his left arm and right eye.

Meanwhile, the young Kiriya Ubuyashiki, now the leader of the Demon Slayers Corps, had called a final Hashira meeting to disband the organization once and for all. This bittersweet moment was punctuated by heartfelt reunions between Tanjiro and his comrades Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke.

Chapter 205, on the other hand, took a different approach. Instead of focusing on the immediate aftermath of the battle, the narrative leaped forward in time, to a future where the heroes of the story had been reincarnated and were living new lives. The prose was bursting with energy and creativity, as the author imagined what the future might hold for these beloved characters.

In Chapter 205, Life Shining Across the Years, a time skip introduced a whole new generation of characters to the world of Demon Slayer. Zenitsu’s great-grandchild, Yoshiteru, poured over a book titled “The Legend of Zenitsu,“ discussing the idea of reincarnation with his sister Toko. “I believe that everyone who fought demons and died for a peaceful world was reborn into a happier life,” he said hopefully.

This theme of rebirth and renewal became the backbone of the final chapter of Demon Slayer, as the descendants and reincarnations of our favorite characters made their debut. Against a backdrop of modern-day Japan, the story came full circle, offering a poignant reminder that even in the face of great tragedy, life goes on.
