Joey King finally broke her silence on the criticisms Jacob Elordi said about their hit Netflix movie series, The Kissing Booth trilogy. The actor called the films “ridiculous,” adding they were also an escape and not universal. But contrary to what the Priscilla star felt, Joey had a great time making those films.
Joey King Opposes What Jacob Elordi Said about The Kissing Booth Trilogy
Joey King opposed everything Jacob Elordi had said about The Kissing Booth trilogy at the Balenciaga fashion show in Los Angeles over the weekend.
“I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way,” she said via Variety. “I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says.”
Joey and Jacob led the three The Kissing Booth movies as Elle and Noah from 2018 to 2021.

So, is there hope for the fourth film to come? Joey explained that if there were Kissing Booth 4, it would pick up when Elle and the rest of the gang were already in their 50s to give an update about their lives.
“If there were to be a fourth installment, it would be picking up where Elle and the gang are in their fifties or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they’re at,” she said.

Jacob Elordi discussed his time doing The Kissing Booth trilogy in his GQ Men of the Year cover story.
“I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies,” he said. “Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape.”
He even revealed that his co-star Zakhar Perez told him that what he felt was such a shame as he believed everyone else had a “wonderful experience” doing it.
“It’s a shame that was his experience on the set,” Perez added.

He then explained that those kinds of movies were what everyone needed at the time, especially after seeing the fans’ reactions and being stopped everywhere he went.
“What Kissing Booth means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time,” he continued. “I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good.”
Jacob tried to backtrack with his revelations, stressing he was “incredibly grateful” to everyone in the franchise.

Joey King and Jacob Elordi had a romance for over a year after breaking up in 2018 following the first The Kissing Booth’s release.
The former couple first met while filming the first movie installment in 2017 and went Instagram official in the same year. However, things started to change, and fans sparked breakup rumors after the first film’s release, as their followers noticed the lack of social media posts together.
Jacob then went on a social media break, and a few months after their quiet breakup, they reunited for The Kissing Booth 2. Joey even announced the news with her co-star Joel Courtney instead of Jacob.

In an interview with Refinery29 in 2019, Joey explained why she wanted to keep mum about their split.
“All you can really do at that point is shut your phone off and crawl into your sister’s bed and watch Friends with her because when you’re going through something and the world wants to go through it with you or [wants] to get every piece of detail from you about it, it’s really difficult,” she explained. “Some of these things are just meant for you.”
Joey King and Jacob Elordi both prove they’re professionals, continuously working together despite what happened to their romance. However, Jacob’s recent confession came as a shock to many, with no one expecting he was already feeling that way toward the movie series that paved the way for him to be known in the industry. He’s just being honest, though being thankful is what is expected of him.
