Katt Williams Calls Out Steve Harvey On Club Shay Shay Interview

Katt Williams Start Beef with Steve Harvey On Club Shay Shay Interview

Katt Williams added spice to everyone’s new year with his appearance at Club Shay Shay podcast. In his interview, he aimed several top comedians including Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, and Rickey Smiley. He went as far as to call them a ‘gang’ to straighten the record about himself. Read ahead to find out what Williams had to say about each of them.

Katt Williams accuses Steve Harvey for allegedly ripping off Mark Curry

The actor-comedian made a claim that Steve Harvey ripped his success from Mark Curry, who rose to stardom in the 90s with his sitcom Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper in which he played the iconic role of teacher Mark Cooper.

Katt Williams claims that the 66-year-old entertainer watched the show and later ripped its premise for his sitcom The Steve Harvey Show, where he played the role of a high school music teacher.

Additionally, he criticized Harvey’s claims of not having ambitions to pursue a career in the film industry stating that he couldn’t have been a movie star anyway.

Williams reasoned his statement by calling Harvey ‘a country bumpkin Black dude, who can’t talk good and look like Mr. Potato Head.’

Katt Williams accuses Cedric The Entertainer of stealing his joke

Apart from Harvey, the Emmy winner also accused Cedric The Entertainer of stealing his joke from a set that he performed on the BET program ComicView.

He claimed that Cedric came to watch him perform in the late 90s and also appreciated his performance backstage. Only to later perform the same joke verbatim on The (Original) Kings Of Comedy.

The 52-year-old comedian further stated that he did initially permit Cedric to use the joke but he felt hurt when the Def Comedy Jam star stopped crediting him for it.

Cedric The Entertainer reacted to these allegations by commenting under an Instagram clip. He refuted the whole story by calling Williams’s allegations ‘revisionist history.’

Rickey Smiley’s ‘Friday After Next’ story was allegedly fake

Katt Williams and Rickey Smiley co-starred on Friday After Next. It became the celebrated third installment of the Friday series starring starring Ice Cube and John Witherspoon.

In this installment, Williams played the role of Moneky Mike and Smiley played Santa Claus. However, Smiley had previously claimed that he was originally offered the role of Monkey Mike.

Williams called out this story stating that 201 black comedians were auditioning for the role. Further questioning that how could he claim that it was decidedly his and that he had already allegedly shot sequences for 4 days.

Williams also claimed that he has a clause in his contract after co-starring with Smiley that he will only work with the actor-comedian if he is playing the role of a woman because Williams believes that Smiley and Tyler Perry “can’t play a man to save a life.”

Friday After Next alleged once had a se*ual assault sequence

Katt Williams later claimed that Rickey Smiley didn’t secure the role of Money Mike because the script included a se*ual assault sequence which the First Sunday star wasn’t okay with.

Williams shared that ultimately he didn’t feel the scene would be funny either because rape is never funny regardless of who it happens to or in what circumstances. Therefore, he asked the creators that if he was allowed to play the role without that sequence then it would be twice better.

While Cedric The Entertainer has refuted the allegations made against him, Rickey Smiley and Steve Harvey have yet to make any comments. However, one thing is certain Katt Williams’s Club Shay Shay interview became one of the spiciest celebrity appearances on a podcast in 2024.
