LeBron and Bronny: Future NBA Teammates

Will we ever see the father-and-son duo (LeBron and Bronny) in the NBA?

LeBron James is arguably one of the greatest players, if not the greatest, of all time. For 19 years, The King has been entertaining and inspiring basketball fans from all around the globe. The 37-year-old is already at the back-end of his career but still has got a lot of gas left in his tank.

James hasn’t shown any weakness and is not looking to slow down any time now. Even though father time is almost catching up to him, he’s optimistic that one day, he will be able to play with his son, Bronny James.

LeBron is currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, while his son, LeBron James Jr. is a high school junior at Sierra Canyon. Bronny is a 17-year-old stud who looks to be following in his father’s footsteps.

Bronny is set to graduate from high school next year, but will only be eligible for an NBA draft in the 2024-2025 season. However, LBJ would be 39 by that time, and would probably be playing his last season. Bronny, on the other hand, maybe drafted by an NBA team, but his preparedness for the league would be questionable since it is still a long way to go.

LeBron is clearly open to the possibilities of him teaming up with his son. Any team that drafts Bronny is where LBJ would go.

“My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point,”
– LeBron said during an interview via The Athletic.

LeBron James, currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be with the team until the 2022-2023 season. He surely wants to play with his son, not just in an NBA game, but in an NBA season.

After his contract with the Purple and Gold organization, his future would rely on his plans to team up with Bronny. When asked if he is open to re-joining his former and hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, James answered:

“The door’s not closed on that, I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free,” (Via The Athletic)

The Cavs are currently one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. A team of young talents in Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, Isaac Okoro, Collin Sexton, Caris Levert, and Darius Garland. It is highly unlikely that Cavs would trade highly talented young players for a 40-year-old LeBron James. No disrespect to the King, but that would be disastrous to the Cavs organization. But that’s another story in the future.
