New improvements are coming to Marvel’s Avengers in 2.4 and 2.5, according to the April Development Update of Square Enix. The announcement of Jane Foster as Mighty Thor, however, is the most significant part of this news.
Jane’s formal announcement verifies recent reports regarding the next playable character in Marvel’s Avengers. This also somehow confirms the theory that Jane’s release will match with the theater premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder this July.
Thor: Love and Thunder x Marvel’s Avengers
Thor: Love and Thunder is a Marvel Studios film that will be released in theaters this July, and the trailer included a familiar figure, which fans believe is Jane Foster, who now wields Mjolnir.
Fans have suggested a variety of characters from the comic book source material as well as famous MCU adaptations for Marvel’s Avengers’ next playable heroes. Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, are two popular characters with the most requests to appear in the game.
We are all excited to see how it all unfolded, and it will be released worldwide on July 8th. This is right after Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Now that patch 2.3 is behind us, we’d like to update you on what’s coming up in the near future for the game. This includes some great improvements to the event system as well as our next playable hero Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor!

Marvel’s Avengers has revealed two new future updates, 2.4 (which will focus on optimization) and 2.5 (which includes Jane Foster, the game’s next playable heroine).
UPDATE 2.4 – WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
With an emphasis on in-game events, 2.4 will continue to focus on system enhancements. Cosmic Threat, Tachyon Anomaly, and Corrupted Vibranium helped to form the base of Marvel’s Avengers’ initial year. This allows the Avengers Project to be diverse and fresh and different objectives to pursue alongside squadmates.
Update 2.4 will change the mechanics of the events to make them more rewarding. When used in tandem with the improved game loop introduced in version 2.3, the result is a fantastic combination.
- The devs are upgrading and diversifying prizes between events. This is to make each one more unique and worthwhile to play, with each event now giving gear from various sets.
- To enable even additional methods to earn shipments and cosmetic merchant outfits, the devs are adding Unit prizes to a larger variety of event tasks.
- Adding greater power level gear rewards to meta objectives to provide another route for non-Raid/Omega-Level Threat content to level up beyond the soft-cap on drops.
- Meta objectives will reward your whole roster, allowing you to gear up your entire squad.
UPDATE 2.5 – WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR + Jane Foster
After 2.4’s system enhancements, there will be Update 2.5, and while we don’t have any details on when it will be released, we can tell you that it will add a new playable Hero – Jane Foster who is now known as The Mighty Thor.
As the new bearer of Mjolnir, her skills will share a number of similarities with the old Thor. Though the devs reassure the fans that she will also have parts that are uniquely Jane Foster. More information about how Jane will appear in the game will be available in the future.
