And many MK fans are excited to play this reboot version of the original game, Mortal Kombat. The OG Mortal Kombat, initially released in 1992, will be reimagined using the latest technology in gaming. Fans will surely be experiencing nostalgia, especially those who played the original game. Thirty-one years had passed, and most fans probably had their own families and kids. Parents need to know whether this beloved game from their younger years is suitable to be played by their kids. Let’s discuss the age ratings of previous Mortal Kombat installments as a guide to determine if the upcoming title will be safe for children.
Mortal Kombat 11 – PEGI 18:
The age rating for Mortal Kombat 11 is 18 years old and above. This suggests the upcoming title will also likely follow suit with a similar rating. Even by simply watching the Reveal Trailer of Mortal Kombat 11, it becomes evident that the game features brutal moves and gore-filled finishers.
This game’s level of violence and explicit content clearly indicates that it is intended for mature audiences.
Mortal Kombat X – Mature 17+:
With a four-year difference from Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat X also carries a mature rating of 17+. Like its successor, this game also caters to an adult audience through its explicit content, including graphic violence, bloodshed, and offensive language.
Considering the nature of the game and its portrayal of brutality, it’s clear that Mortal Kombat X is unsuitable for children.

Upon scrolling down the main website of Mortal Kombat 1, we can see that the age rating posted is PEGI 18.
Given the inclusion of nudity/sex, gruesome animations, and foul language in these games, parents are highly advised to refrain from allowing their children who are 17 years and below to play them.
