NBA: What happened to Kelly Oubre Jr.? | 76ers guard reportedly struck by a car in Philadelphia
What seemed to be a great 2023-2024 season start for Kelly Oubre Jr. was met with an unfortunate event. Former Charlotte Hornets guard is expected to miss tons of games after an accident in Philadelphia, sources reported.
Kelly Oubre Jr., who currently plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, was reportedly struck by a moving vehicle while walking on the pedestrian on Saturday, November 11.
According to the Sixers and NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Oubre Jr. was hit by a car while the professional basketball player was walking toward his home. Fortunately, he immediately received treatment at the Jefferson Hospital and is now in stable condition.
According to an official police report, the 27-year-old guard was crossing Broad and Locust streets in Center City, Philadelphia, when the accident happened. The authorities also said it took place around 7 pm on Saturday. As of this writing, an investigation regarding the incident is still ongoing. No identity of the suspect was shared with the public. Meanwhile, the Sixers have already been made aware of the situation and are expecting that Oubre Jr. will miss a significant amount of games. The timetable for his return is still unknown as of this moment.

Update: Oubre confirmed to have injured his hip, right leg, and ribs after the incident
The unknown vehicle, which was later identified as a silver car, reportedly fled the scene in what appears to be a hit-and-run scenario. The police are still tracking the assailant and his motives of hitting the NBA star.

The athletic young guard started out strong this season. In 8 games, he is averaging 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game all while also shooting 50% from the field. This is already Oubre Jr.’s 9th season and he’s still putting on his usual contribution. With his help, the Philadelphia 76ers are currently the best team in the East, with an outstanding record of 7-1.
