6) Ultimate Beastmaster

Ultimate Beastmaster is known for pushing its players to their limits. They go to a series of obstacle courses known as “The Beast.” But this isn’t just an ordinary competition show. Aside from featuring international competitors, it also chooses six select TV hosts, actors, comedians, and athletes as commentators from the six countries competing in the show. This makes the series incredible as it is, with their engaging insights and commentaries.

With Sylvester Stallone as one of the show’s executive producers, you can expect that every course can be as physical and challenging as it can be. Ultimate Beastmaster premiered in 2017, followed by the second season in the same year and the third season in 2018. Though Netflix has not announced if the show is canceled, there are beliefs that a fourth season isn’t happening.

5) Next in Fashion

Next in Fashion is a fashion design competition hosted by Tan France and Gigi Hadid, who replaced Alexa Chung. It features fashion designers from different walks of life trying their luck to win the $200,000 pot money and launch their own collection on the known luxury fashion retailer site, Net-a-Porter. The contenders here are highly skilled designers who have already dressed some of the most famous A-list stars.

However, the catch is they haven’t made a big name for themselves yet. That said, they’re on the show not just for the cash prize but to earn greater recognition. Next in Fashion Season 2 aired in March 2023. There are no words yet if the show will have a third season.

4) Rhythm + Flow

Netflix finally unveiled its first original music reality TV series, Rhythm + Flow, in 2019, with Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. at the helm. The three, who are known for being some of the biggest names in the industry today, travel around Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta, and Chicago to look for the new hip-hop star who will make a name in the music scene and win the cash prize of $250,000.

Sadly, the show only aired for one season, with no season renewal news yet to be announced. But with its success, a French version of the series, Nouvelle École, aired in June 2022 and was quickly renewed for a second season in the same year and released in May 2023.

3) The Circle

With the prevalence of social media today and its impact on our society, the making of The Circle in 2020 came timely. Dubbed one of the most innovative and gripping reality competition series of recent years, it shows how important social media has become in the lives of many today. Based on the British game show of the same name, it features a group of social media-savvy players who live in the same building but unbeknownst to each other.

From there, they try to communicate through social media and portray themselves how they want to, revealing how a stranger can pretend to be somebody else behind the screen. The players must rate one another, and the pair with the most votes can choose who they want to leave the competition. The Circle aired its fifth season in December 2022, while its unannounced sixth season is reportedly in the works.

2) Nailed It!

Compared to today’s bake-offs and cooking competitions, Nailed It! features three amateur bakers with poor baking skills trying to recreate “edible masterpieces.” Despite making disastrous baked goods, they still get applauded for exerting their best efforts, and one of them wins $10,000 and a trophy. That said, the show primarily focuses on letting the viewers and competitors enjoy what they do and learn along the way.

Add to that the hilarious comments from the judges Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres, and it’s no surprise that Nailed It! has become an award-winning reality TV series with five Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Nailed It! premiered in March 2018 and has already run for seven seasons and two Holiday specials. The show’s production is suspended indefinitely due to the writers’ strike, which just recently ended after securing a deal with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

1) Physical: 100

With the number of South Korean reality competition series on Netflix, Physical: 100 has become number one, and it’s easy to see why. The show features 100 contestants from different backgrounds, and they all have a distinct feature: they’re incredibly fit. A combination of the strongest men and women, they all battle together in some of the trickiest challenges where they will try to prove that they’re the strongest of them all.

Of course, only one will come out as a winner and win the prize of ₩300 million or about $240,000. The show has been often compared to another hit series on Netflix, Squid Game, with their similarities and format. After premiering in January 2023, Physical: 100 has received a second-season renewal, though there are no words yet on its production, competitors, or release date.

These titles are just some of the excellent competition series you can find on Netflix, and there is an array of more. So, you can probably understand us when we say it’s hard to choose. Still, these on the list are some of the most watched and talked about reality shows on the streaming giant. You can never go wrong.

But if there’s one thing that reality game show lovers want to see today, it’s the upcoming reality competition Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality version of Squid Game. Dubbed the biggest reality show ever, with pot money of a whopping $4.56 million and numerous 456 players, it will premiere on November 22. Surely, this one will be another big hit from Netflix.
