Square Enix celebrated NieR: Automata’s 5th anniversary with a big announcement: the beloved JRPG is getting an anime adaptation.
Fans of the game theorized about a possible anime adaptation at the beginning of February. In Square Enix’s recent live stream, they have finally put the speculations to rest. They dropped a teaser trailer that features 2B holding a katana. Pod 042 also shows up in the teaser.
There are no details yet on the number of episodes or the release date. But the teaser trailer already has fans thinking about what’s to come.

Its complex story has fans wondering what will happen in the anime. There are mixed reactions to the announcement from fans. Some are excited, while some are on the fence about the whole project.
One comment mentioned that NieR: Automata “was meant to be experienced as a game.” Regardless, those who had their doubts still supported the entire project. Another user expressed that as long as the anime adaptation is visually pleasing and works well, they’re on board with it.
