Can you truly call yourself a Nintendo fan if you didn’t know what happened when there were talks of an Everbody 1-2 Switch release? Nintendo launched a mini-game pack called the 1-2 Switch back in 2017. It was met with mixed reactions, and the community was surprised to learn that six years later, Nintendo is set to release a sequel called Everybody 1-2 Switch. This news was met with little to no excitement from fans. Instead, they went on full blast, criticizing and expressing their low hopes for the game, so what exactly happened?
Nintendo fans criticize and blast Everybody 1-2 Switch release announcement
Nintendo took to Twitter to break the news: Everybody 1-2 Switch will release later this month. As with all game announcements, it didn’t take long for fans to start airing out their thoughts about the upcoming release.
#Everybody12Switch is coming to #NintendoSwitch on 6/30.

At first glance, you may think that the announcement gained positive reactions from the community. A closer look at the replies to the original tweet would tell you otherwise. Fans are clearly unhappy with the announcement, and they used sarcasm to mask this.
You know it’s a GotY contender!

One of the replies pointed out that since the sequel to 1-2 Switch took 6 years, it had a longer development cycle than Nintendo’s latest release, Tears of the Kingdom. One user replied and jokingly proposed that Everybody 1-2 Switch could be considered for Game of the Year.

The community’s reactions may be a little over the top for non-Nintendo fans or gamers. However, there are valid points raised by the fans over the years. Before this announcement, there were rumors that Nintendo was working on a sequel to 1-2 Switch. This immediately garnered criticism from the community as the first game didn’t meet expectations.
Fans believe Nintendo should have scrapped the 1-2 Switch sequel
When Everybody 1-2 Switch was still in development, it received “brutal” feedback from Nintendo’s chosen playtesters. Because of this, Nintendo was torn on whether or not they should still go through with the release. After taking inspiration from other party games like Jackbox, Nintendo wanted the same thing to happen with Everybody 1-2 Switch.
- The sequel aims to let more than eight players participate. Similar to how Jackbox utilizes smartphones instead of controllers or Joy-Cons to allow players to join, that’s what Nintendo wanted for this title.

- Even though the video game company had good intentions for this release, it just didn’t blow away its fanbase. Their targeted audiences, mostly families with kids and teenagers, also didn’t care for Everybody 1-2 Switch.
- Some fans also shared their sentiments on Twitter, stating that other games like ARMS or Odyssey should have gotten a sequel instead of 1-2 Switch.
This gave me 3 thoughts :
> THEY KNOW IT’S ASS CUZ NO TRAILER💀
> GOT A SEQUEL TO 1-2 SWITCH BEFORE ODYSSEY😀
> This random drop tells me no main direct this month. They’ll just surprise trailers for Mario Kart DLC, Splatoon expansion & Pikmin 4 overview & maybe a HD port LOL https://t.co/6Yw0XV8KEp

- Obviously, Nintendo did not expect such negative feedback from the playtesters and the community. Surprisingly, they’re still going through with the release because the community isn’t impressed at all with this game.
You can now pre-order Everybody 1-2 Switch from the My Nintendo Store
Along with the out-of-the-blue announcement on Twitter, Nintendo has opened pre-orders for Everybody 1-2 Switch on their digital store.
- There are no pre-order bonuses for the game, which will be released on June 30, 2023.
- You can get the Digital or Physical Editions of Everybody 1-2 Switch. Both of these versions cost $29.99 USD.
The game’s official description indicates players can use their Joy-Cons or smart devices. Unlike the Jackbox games, this party game will have you up and moving to accomplish the challenges with your teammates.
