The Serbian big man has now won the award two times in a row (2021, 2022). The Greek Freak, Giannis also made a back-to-back MVP in 2019 and 2020. On the other hand, Joel Embiid is yet to win an MVP in his career.

Jokic has been carrying the Denver Nuggets in his back throughout the 2021-2022 season because his two best teammates, Murray and Porter Jr., are being sidelined due to injuries.
This season, He averaged an impressive 27.1 points, 7.9 assists, 13.8 rebounds 1.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 58% from the field and 33.7% from behind the arc. Subsequently, all his averages, except for the assists, are all career-highs. In addition to that, he also has the highest PER in the league with a 33.01 PER while leading the Nuggets to the 6th seed in the west (48 W-33 L).
Jokic winning the NBA Kia MVP this season isn’t the only feat he has done this year. Some of which are as follows:
- Jokic is also the first player in league history with 2,000 points, 500 assists, and 1,000 rebounds in a single season
- With him winning the MVP, he now becomes the 15th NBA player to win multiple MVP awards. He now joins an elite club consisting of Bill Russell, Bob Pettit, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Steph Curry, LeBron James, and a fellow MVP candidate, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- Is a lock for the 2022 All-NBA 1st team
At 27 years old, the European is already making a case for the next face of the NBA. Even though Jokic made an early playoff exit in this year’s playoffs, his performance was still unparalleled in the series against the healthy and battle-tested Golden State Warriors. He and the Nuggets even managed to get 1 win against the red-hot Dubs in the first round.
As a result of his hard work, dedication, and a fantastic display of talent, the 27-year-old center is expected to sign a super-max contract with the Nuggets next season. The contract, which will be the biggest in history, is expected to amount to up to $235 Million for 5 years.
