In the new manga chapter 1053, One Piece revealed the new four emperors. While Shanks retains his position, the latest episode named the new emperors and revealed that bounties were raised.
One Piece: Four New Emperors
The Four Emperors (Yonkos) are the Three Great Powers of the world along with the Marines and Special Science Group (replaced the disbanded Seven Warlords of the Sea).
One Piece’s Wano Country arc was the longest and most significant in the series to date, and after its epic battles. The newest chapter 1053 of One Piece has the most epic revelations to date. Some of these revelations are Ryokugyu’s identity, the Ancient Weapon Pluton hidden somewhere in Wano, Oden’s father Kozuki Sukiyaki is still alive, and Luffy, Kid, and Law have a bounty of 3 billion berries.
The introduction of the new Yonkos following the loss of Big Mom and Kaido, however, is arguably the most surprising development of all. The new emperors are the following:
- Red-Haired Shanks, Captain of the Red-Haired pirates.
- Marshall D. Teech, Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates.
- Monkey D. Luffy, Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.
- Buggy the Clown, Captain of the Buggy Pirates.

Buggy the Clown as an Emperor???
Previous episodes already hinted that Luffy will replace some of the Four Emperors since other episodes already named him the Fifth Emperor. As for Buggy’s spot, it was expected that Kid or Law should take this place for taking down Big Mom.
Although, some argue that to be an emperor is not just about defeating a previous emperor. It will take some sort of power over others, the power to control other crews, and recognition around the world. Moreover, an emperor must also own a massive and formidable fleet with some degree of territorial control.
But, it looks like the jester has suckered his way to the top ranks. In reality, however, Buggy is a lot more than that. Being a showman, Buggy is crafty, has a lot of money, fought among the bests (Akainu, Aokji, Kizaru), ex-warlord of the Sea, and a fellow Gold D apprentice (like Shanks), and has leadership among people in the Grand Line. Not to mention, Buggy has one of the best Devil Fruit there is.
While some of his traits are unprecedented, Buggy also hits most, if not all, traits worthy of being an Emperor. It is commonly known that the Final Act is always clouded with misdirection here and there. There is more to Buggy that can unfold in the next episodes.
