PlayStation Productions is Working on Twisted Metal TV Series
During Sony’s IR Day 2019 today, the company confirmed that their new division, PlayStation Productions, is working on a Twisted Metal TV series.
The confirmation came from Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tony Vinciquerra during the Q&A session.
PlayStation Productions will turn its video game properties to film and television. The division will be headed by Asad Qizilbash and with guidance from SIE Worldwide Studios chairman, Shawn Layden. “We’ve got 25 years of game development experience and that’s created 25 years of great games, franchises and stories,” Layden spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview. “We feel that now is a good time to look at other media opportunities across streaming or film or television to give our worlds life in another spectrum.”
As mentioned in the THR article, PlayStation Productions is “already in production on its first slate of projects and has set up shop on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City.”
Keeping in mind how the series revolves around vehicle combat, it’d be interesting to see how PlayStation Productions manage to match the level of excitement from gamers familiar to the series. A lot of VFX, a lot of production cost. We’ll see.
