Resident Evil 3 Remake Shipped 2 Million Units In Five Days

Resident Evil 3 Remake

In its initial five days from release, Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake shipped 2 million units worldwide. This includes all the platforms, the PS$, Xbox One, and PC.

The first remake, Resident Evil 2, released in January of last year, has now surpassed 6.5 million cumulative units shipped worldwide. The numbers are decent and Resident Evil 3 could be breaking RE2’s records before having to wait another year.

The original Resident Evil 3, released in 1999, sold a cumulative of 3.5 million units.

What’s next for the Resident Evil series?

We’ve been hearing multiple rumors about the next-entry in the Resident Evil game series. It’s supposedly called Resident Evil 8: Village. It will set in Europe, revolving around a new foe, the Witch. It’s possible for Chris Redfield to make a return as well. Video Games Chronicle(VGC) confirms that Resident Evil 8 will be released in 2021.

  • Co-developed by parts of the RE2 and Devil May Cry V team
  • Resident Evil 4’s original director, Shinji Mikami was approached to co-found M-Two but turned down the role due to his commitment to Bethesda’s GhostWire: Tokyo
