Shin Megami Tensei V is the newest installment in the Shin Megami Tensei series by ATLUS. The director of SMT IV, Kazuyuki Yamai is producing it. The game will feature returning gameplay mechanics as well.

We don’t have a proper release date for the game yet, but Nintendo has confirmed the game will come out in 2021 for the Switch.

Storyline

In the trailer, the narrator says the line – “The God you worship is dead.” Shin Megami Tensei V is set in an apocalypse and the forces of Chaos have won. The sky is filled with demons and the trailer shows us a ruined Tokyo. Imp-like creaturs all trying to kill the protagonist. The narrator wants you to “follow your will and choose your destiny” in a world “without its creator”.

What More Do We Know?

We know that the game is to depict and sympathize with the “characteristics of the times”, such as unemployment, unease about retirement, terrorism, and nuclear weapons, and problems at home. ATLUS is developing the game in Unreal Engine 3.
