Sony Welcomes Deviation Games In A Partnership Deal

BY JC Paredes 5 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Dave Anthony, executive director of the Deviation Games studio, confirmed a partnership with Sony to develop a new IP for PlayStation 5 in a statement published on the official PlayStation blog.

The joint venture was announced at the Summer Game Fest last Thursday (June 10). However, there are still few details about what’s to come from the announcement. The statement does unveil, however, that the production company currently employs over 100 people. This implies that the project in question is not modest.

PlayStation 5 Exclusive?

The game in question should only be available on Sony’s platforms, even though we don’t know if it will be cross-gen or if it will only be available on PlayStation 5.

The only clues to the game’s nature and ambitions come from Geoff Keighley, the host, and organizer of the Kickoff Live event, who refers to it as a “Mega IP.” They did not identify the genre. Even more importantly, the platforms on which it will be released in the future.

Deviation Games

Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell, makers of Call of Duty Black Ops, have founded Deviation Games. A new studio headed by Treyarch veterans. Anthony directed and wrote the narrative for Black Ops 2010 and its sequel, Black Ops 2 (2012), while Blundell was among the original creators of Call of Duty’s zombie mode, which is now a staple of the franchise.

Although they discuss that their goal is not only to use everything they’ve learned from making games over the years as a guideline but also to create something innovative and completely original, the game is currently in development.
