The continuation of Cal Kestis and BD-1’s adventures will happen with Star Wars Jedi Survivor. The announcement was a surprise a few months back. New information is coming to light, and we may be closing in on its release. Here’s everything we’ve gathered so far.
A Release Date Confirmed?
A leaked Steam page showcased that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have a release date on March 15. It’s a date that coincides with EA’s announcement that they will release a major game before April next year. While all that’s left is a confirmation of the date through official channels, the official EA Star Wars Twitter then made an announcement:

In it, they mentioned that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s gameplay will first make its appearance at this year’s The Game Awards. The annual event is known for announcing some of the upcoming hits of the following year. The memorable reveals from the past year include:
- Elden Ring
- Suicide Squad
- Sonic Frontiers
- Alan Wake 2
- Forspoken
The Story So Far
According to reports, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will occur sometime after Fallen Order. In the original game, he was running from the Empire. Any other story details have yet to appear, as we’ll get our first look at it during The Game Awards.
Even the teaser EA released showed little except confirming our protagonist’s return. Respawn Entertainment developed the sequel the same as the original. The developer is one of the bright spots in EA’s catalog, releasing this series along with Titanfall and Apex Legends.
Gameplay
Gameplay for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will likely have similarities to the original. Many of its players noted that many sequences in the game were more Souls-like, having Cal fight against more powerful enemies. Even some enemies had specific patterns and strategies you have to learn to make the encounters easy.
Some new gameplay elements will come to give it a fresh look. God of War: Ragnarok did a fine job by revamping the combat system and introducing new combat moves. We’re hoping to see a more refined Cal as he gets a better grasp of his Jedi abilities and lightsaber skills.
There may also be the introduction of new characters and the possibility of other popular Star Wars figures appearing. Since Cal Kestis is a canon character, it’s not surprising to see big-time characters appear in the game to give it a stronger push.
The latest EA Star Wars game will release on all next-gen consoles. That means it will have a simultaneous release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC. The Game Awards will run on December 8, 8 PM Eastern Time. We expect that there will be more reveals of other games this season. That’s despite the event itself announcing they would be running at a shorter time frame.
