The long wait is over as Offworld Industries’ Starship Troopers: Extermination enters Early Access on May 17, 2023! If you’re a film buff, you might have already watched the 1997 film of the same name. Starship Troopers: Extermination is inspired by the movie, dropping players in a world where they must do what it takes to outlast the killer Bugs. Here’s everything you should know about Starship Troopers: Extermination as it enters Early Access!
Everything you need to know about Starship Troopers: Extermination
Offworld Industries really outdid themselves this time with Starship Troopers: Extermination. From the previews and teasers we’ve seen, players are in for a treat with this co-op first-person shooter from the same devs who gave us Post Scriptum and SQUAD. The game is set on the deadly planet of Valaka where Troopers need to fight off against hordes of Bugs.

- As a Trooper, you will be tasked to carry out different objectives while fighting off the Bug menace.
- The idea of collecting resources as one of your primary goals may sound easy, but trust us when we say that your objective is far from that.
The large number of players it can host should work together to achieve a single goal: survival. The Deep Space Vanguard Troopers can split up to work more efficiently.
- One group of Troopers can focus on gathering valuable resources while the other works on keeping the enemies at bay.
- Whatever strategy they have in mind, they must work together to help the Federation against this Bug infestation.
How many Troopers can play in a single match?
Starship Troopers: Extermination is a co-op FPS that can host 16 players, 4 more than Offworld Industries originally planned. The game recognizes its players as the Deep Space Vanguard Troopers. They will be divided into their own squads. However, they will not be fighting each other as the main enemy in the game are the Bugs. There are three classes players can choose from when preparing to land on the dangerous planet of Valaka:
Death from above! Hunters rely on their high-intensity aerobic training to get to the fight fast and jump jets to scale obstacles for tactical superiority.

Base Building and Enemy Types in Starship Troopers: Extermination
Aside from gunning down Bugs in the game, Troopers need to make defenses one of their top priorities. As your squad and fellow Troopers gather essential resources from the planet, you can use these to set up your defenses against the Bugs. You can construct various things: walls, towers, lookouts, ammo stations, and other vital sections that would help your team fight against the Bugs.

During the Early Access period, players will encounter the following Bug Types:
- Drone
- Warrior
- Gunner
- Plasma Grenadier
- Tiger Elite

Once the game exits Early Access, Troopers can expect more Bug Types to be added. It’s unclear when Offworld Industries will launch the full game of Starship Troopers: Extermination. However, it’s always a good idea to let the game simmer in Early Access so they can get player feedback on what to add, improve, and remove.
