Taylor Swift is once again making noise. As the Grammy winner has now become TIME’s Person of the Year, she opens up about a lot of things on the magazine’s cover story, including the 2016 infamous call leak between her and Kanye West regarding his song, Famous. As this resulted in a feud between her and Ye’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian, the most-streamed woman on Spotify revealed the reality star’s role in the controversy.
Taylor Swift Recalls Infamous Call with Kanye West
In 2016, Kim Kardashian shared footage of the call between Taylor Swift and Kanye West on social media, making it look like Taylor approved the line in the song Famous. “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x / Why? I made that bitch famous,” the line read.
However, Taylor refused the claim, saying the song had never been fully shared with her. Four years later, the entire phone conversation was released, proving her claim was true, and the call was edited. Now, seven years after that controversy broke out, Taylor recalled the events and revealed how they took their toll on her badly.
“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” she told TIME. “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”

The singer-songwriter continued how she went down “really, really hard” that she moved to another country, didn’t leave her rental home for a year, and was even afraid to make phone calls. She also pushed away most people in her life as she almost lost trust in anyone.
Hence, she felt that the scandal would end her music career, making it feel like it was taken away from her. “Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me,” she said.
Kim has yet to respond to the issue as of this writing.
Taylor Swift’s Response to the Issue
Amid everything that has happened, Taylor Swift learns to put her focus on her work and continue to persevere as an artist.
This makes her very careful to be grateful every second she gets to do her career at this incredibly high level after this experience has been snatched away from her. And if there’s one thing she has learned about it, it’s to respond positively. Whether good or bad, she will continuously do something and keep making her art.

She also learns that it means nothing to actively try to “quote unquote defeat” anyone trying to bring her down.
“Trash takes itself out every single time,” she stressed.
The Leak Call of Taylor Swift with Kanye West
Taylor Swift has talked about her feud with Kanye West in the past. In fact, in 2016, her spokesperson told People that the rapper didn’t call to ask for the pop giant’s approval but to ask her to release Famous on her Twitter account.
Taylor refused and even warned him about releasing a song with a “strong misogynistic message.” However, she wasn’t aware that the track had a line made against her.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2019, Taylor revealed that the phone call wasn’t the only reason behind her rage against Kanye. Everything just added up and caused her to be pissed off when he called her a b*tch.
Despite everything that Taylor Swift had been through due to his feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, she eventually made it to the top and even more became incredibly successful. She has been dominating the year as of late, with her The Eras Tour, albums, concert movie, and now being TIME’s Person of the Year and more. As they say, no one can bring a good person down, and time will reveal the truth.
