South Korean actress Kim Hieora, who garnered critics and audience acclaim for portraying a nasty, evil psychopath in Uncanny Encounter 2 and the globally famous Netflix K-drama The Glory, recently found her name attached to bullying accusations. Here’s an explanation of the controversy, debunking, and fans’ reactions.

Actress Kim Hieora’s bullying accusations Explained

On September 7, the Korean celebrity news outlet Dispatch accused Kim Hieora of partaking in ‘Big Sangji,’ a group of ‘iljin‘ of S Girls’ Middle School in Wonju, Gangwon. They alleged that the group was infamous for bullying, blackmailing, and verbal assaults.

  • For the unversed, an iljin group means a gang of high schoolers who conduct various unlawful activities, including bullying, blackmailing, stealing, and verbal and physical assaults. Therefore, the accusations soon went viral as more and more netizens expressed their disbelief.
  • The news soon crossed borders and oceans, garnering the breakthrough actress severe backlash from South Korean and international fans alike. Following this chaos, Kim Hieora’s managing agency, Gram Entertainment, made a statement debunking all of the accusations.

Gram Entertainment shares how the bullying accusations started

  • “Hello, this is Gram Entertainment, Kim Hieora’s agency. Firstly, we are sorry for causing concern with the news of Kim Hieora today. • They further disclosed that Kim Hieora was indeed part of a group named ‘Big Sangji,’ a group of students from the same school. However, the accusations from the media aren’t true. They also shared that Dispatch contacted them regarding the tip-off, and as the accuser and accused both didn’t recall the event clearly, the actress decided to meet with the media house.
  • Kim Hieora went and gave an interview with three reports, and contrary to the headline, she neither acknowledged nor participated in the bullying activities. The accuser also cleared the misunderstanding, resolved the matter, and shared the same with the media house. They also clarified that the ‘Big Sangji’ group wasn’t an iljin group.
  • Meanwhile, the actress shared another apology post on her official Instagram handle. She apologized for being a ‘spectator’ of this school violence incident. Hieora also acknowledges her big mistake of being only a bystander.
