When Does Fortnitemares 2023 Start Everything we know so far - Featured

With Halloween right around the corner, most Fortnite players have one question in mind: when does Fortnitemares 2023 start? Since it is one of the seasonal events most people look forward to, Epic Games is not one to miss out on this festivity. They hold an annual celebration filled with exciting stuff during Fortnitemares to commemorate Halloween in the battle royale.

As of writing, Epic Games hasn’t revealed the official start date for Fortnitemares 2023. However, we can get a rough estimate on its start date based on the previous Fortnitemares celebration in the popular battle royale and leaks shared by reliable data miners in the community.

When does Fortnitemares 2023 start?

Fortnite just dropped its 26.20 update, and with that, leakers and data miners have uncovered some files that point us in the direction of what to expect during the Fortnitemares 2023 event and its possible release date. To predict this, let’s take a look at the start dates for the previous celebrations:

SEASON DATE
1 October 26, 2017
6 October 24, 2018
Chapter 2 Season 1 October 29, 2019
Chapter 2 Season 4 October 21, 2020
Chapter 2 Season 8 October 5, 2021
Chapter 3 Season 4 October 18, 2022

So when does Fortnitemares 2023 start? It seems Epic Games wants to stretch out the Halloween celebration as much as possible by releasing their last two Fortnitemares events several days before the actual day of Halloween.

According to leaker Wenso, we can expect Fortnitemares 2023 to start on October 10, 2023.

What to expect

There are plenty of things to expect once the Halloween event in Fortnite goes live. Leakers were able to find game files pointing to a new boss on the Battle Island, weapons, quests, skins, and other event-themed items.

Kado Thorne Boss Fight

During the 26.20 downtime, leakers in the Fortnite community revealed that one of its skins, Kado Thorne, will live up to his full potential as one of the antagonists in Fortnite’s story. This character was first introduced in Chapter 4 Season 4 of Fortnite. Since then, many players have expressed their love for his character design as a vampire in Fortnite.

According to leaks, players can fight Kado Thorne in his vampire form during Fortnitemares 2023.  The leak from popular data miner Wenso shows an animation of vampire Kado Thorne when players fight against him. He can use his vampiric abilities to use “Life Drain” on players, slowly but surely reducing their Health Points during battle.

Weapons and Quests

Other things to look forward to once celebrations for Fortnitemares 2023 start are new weapons and quests for players to enjoy.

Pumpkin Launcher
  • Similar to how Fortnite releases weapons when they host a major collaboration, leakers have discovered files that the Pumpkin Launcher is making a comeback for Fortnitemares 2023.
  • Keep in mind that the Pumpkin Launcher is just a Halloween-themed version of the normal Rocket Launcher. It’s expected to work the same as the normal weapon, but Epic may have a few tricks up its sleeves and add a dash of spookiness to the weapon effects.

Other weapons included in the Fortnitemares 2023 event are the following:

Quests

Once we see Fortnite’s Fortnitemares 2023 start, there will also be limited-time quests for players to complete. These quests will have free and exclusive rewards up for grabs. As of writing, data miners haven’t been able to discover the official quest list for Fortnitemares 2023. We’ll be sure to keep you updated once more information about the Halloween event is released.

Skins and Event-Themed Items

What’s a Fortnitemares celebration without new skins and items to discover? Thanks to leakers, they’ve revealed that a few spooky skins will be released when festivities for Fortnitemares 2023 start. Among these are the following:

  • Swamp Fishstick
  • Molten Love Ranger
  • New Meowscles version (Shadow)

Swamp Fishstick is a skin that was originally scheduled for last year’s Fortnitemares event. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem that Epic Games has scrapped the outfit altogether, as it will be up for grabs when this year’s Halloween event goes live.

Players will also see Witch Brooms and Candy return to Fortnite after the 26.30 update goes live.
