God of War: Ragnarok has been a hit for PlayStation 5 and 4 owners, marking it as a Game of the Year contender. The adventures of Kratos and Atreus come to a finale, with gamers praising the different aspects of improvements in the sequel. One of the questions that linger among gamers is if there will be a port of God of War: Ragnarok on PC. The chances are pretty good based on the evidence we’ve seen.
Sony’s Interest in PC Porting
Sony has been busy porting most of its IPs to be available through the Steam platform. We’ve seen titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and the Spider-Man games appear for the PC crowd. Most importantly, the first game God of War also released on PC in 2022, four years after the original PS4 release. That seems unsettling given its length, but there is hope.

PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst explained that PC ports take at least one year from the original release date. Given that God of War: Ragnarok was released on PC on November 9 this year, we can expect it to release anywhere from November 9, 2023, onwards.
One reason for this length is the exclusivity, given that all of them are for the PlayStation consoles. Additional development is also necessary to ensure a smooth release when it comes to PCs. It is because there are more factors to consider with the different gaming computers.
Fancy Upgrades
PC ports also tend to have added features that weren’t initially available for the console releases. Looking at some of the recent PC releases from Sony, we see a lot of visual improvements. More customizability and DLSS implementation allow for higher frames and crisper graphics. Considering that God of War: Ragnarok already has some impressive customizability, it’s exciting to think about the future.
Any upgrades likely to come from God of War: Ragnarok will likely come to the PC platform. The developers recently released a photo mode, and you can enjoy your journey through the nine realms with memorable pictures. They’re also working on a possible New Game+ mode. The 2018’s God of War didn’t have DLC, so it’s unlikely that we have any for Ragnarok. One can hope, given the possibility of the franchise expanding.
Continued Dominance with Exclusives
One thing that we can give credit to Sony is their treatment of the game studios under their umbrella. Many of them have released critically acclaimed new IPs and reboots for franchises we didn’t know we needed. The trend continues with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and more.
They’ve managed to give funding to talented developers known for making quality games. Think of it like how Disney initially made the MCU possible thanks to their support.
