Will Valorant Release On Consoles?
Valorant is the hottest game on PC right now. And with Riot releasing new content and in-game items frequently, it will stay on its position for months to come. But are console players at a loss here? When will we actually see Valorant release on consoles? As a matter of fact, will Valorant ever release on consoles?
Well, to answer this, Anna Donlon, Executive Producer for Valorant gave us a hint on what’s the current status of Valorant on consoles. She mentioned that they are testing out a prototype of the game for consoles at the moment. But playing it is one thing, and experiencing it is another. And that the latter isn’t translating well enough to consoles.
It has to do with a “strong level of competitive integrity” as Valorant is a pure esports title. The developers don’t want anyone to have an unfair advantage based on the platform they’re playing on. And if Valorant was to come out on consoles, the experience of playing the game should be exactly streamlined on all platforms.
“If we feel like we can deliver this experience on those platforms, we absolutely will,” said Donlon. “But we really want Valorant to stand for a certain type of gameplay and a certain type of experience.”
Riot Games didn’t always have the plan to release the game on different platforms. But the idea did strike with them in certain situations. Many developers within the team are really excited to bring the experience to other platforms. But we can’t be sure of anything as of now, as the plan is still a wireframe for now.
Valorant might as well end up on platforms, and from what we think, it may come out for the next-gen consoles – PS5 and Xbox Series X. But right now, it’s too early to say when.
We don’t have any release date for Valorant on consoles yet, but as development continues, we’ll keep you updated. “If we were to do it, it’ll definitely be delayed,” said Donlon.
