Who doesn’t know the Legend “Nature Boy” Ric Flair in WWE? This is the cool white-haired dude who slaps his opponents on their chest and every time he does that everybody shouts the famous chant “Woo!.”
Flair has competed in a lot of legendary contests throughout the course of his nearly 41-year career. He has always brought the same class and style to every match in WWE, whether he was up against Sting, Lex Luger, Wahoo McDaniel, Dusty Rhodes, or Triple H. Almost every sports club, including the Indianapolis Colts, has adopted his tagline “Woo!” as their battle cry.

As we all know, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair was set to fight for the last time in WWE and fans went nuts about it. It’s going to be extremely insane when The Nature Boy returns for one last show! Ric “Nature Boy” Flair, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, is coming out of retirement and going one last time.
Ric Flair still seems to have some energy for a few more showdowns at the age of 73. The match was publicized in May of last year under the name “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match.”
The best signature phrase in professional wrestling history is “Woo,” which was popularized by Ric Flair. In addition to being extremely well-liked when he was at the height of his pro wrestling career, the catchphrase has since grown to be a major meme.
#10 – The origin of the catchphrase “Woo!” 1970’s
- As we all know, Ric “Nature Boy” Flair is known for his famous chant “Woo!” and we shout this when he slaps his opponents on the chest. Fans also shout “Woo!” when he talks, and yes, it is pretty darn cool.
- It somehow reminds me of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (one of the all-time greats in WWE) which has the same ‘feels’ but his catchphrase is “What?!”.
According to Ric Flair, renowned musician, Jerry Lee Lewis gave him the Woo. When he was on the road, he adored listening to Lewis, and one day in 1974, he heard the Great Balls of Fire, in which Lewis performs the wooing.
When Flair tested Woo the following day with the crowd, the catchphrase quickly gained popularity in North Carolina. Following his appearance on television, the term gained further notoriety, and the rest is history.
#9 – When Ric Flair said he was the “Real” WWF Heavy Weight Champion (1991)
Ric Flair dominated professional wrestling in the 1980s as its most well-known figure. Flair had epic runs and was the face of wrestling. In light of this, consider how historic it was for Flair to make his WWF television debut in the early 1990s.
- After receiving a lengthy intro from Bobby Heenan, his financial advisor, and the rollout of a red carpet, Ric Flair made his debut entrance on television for the WWF during a September 1991 broadcast of Prime Time Wrestling.
- In one of his most memorable career promos, Flair introduced himself as “The Real World’s Heavyweight Champion” before taking on the WWF roster, notably “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan. The stage would be set for future events by this appearance.

- This match will always be remembered as one of the best nights in professional wrestling because of everything about it, including his spectacular entrance.
- Flair battled everyone in the contest, including Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Sgt. Slaughter, and Randy Savage, and he was finally the last man standing when the final bell sounded at Albany, New York’s Knickerbocker Arena.
- After the match, Ric Flair informed Gene Okerlund with a tear in his eye that it was the best experience of his life.
- The greatest promo from Flair, featuring his really understated “Woo,” which is essentially a challenge to the rest of the roster to attack him and his gold belt, comes next. It’s incredible and timeless and The Nature Boy is in its top form.
#7 – When he said he was the President of the United States (1999)
Announcing in front of millions of people that you are the president of the United States is one of the most outrageous things a man can do.
Even while it may appear embarrassing to some, we believe the phrase, which came shortly after his famed dance on the ring, is one of his most iconic “Woo!” moments of Ric Flair.
- The interview segment by “Mean” Gene Okerlund featuring “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, “AA” Arn Anderson, and “Hot Rod” Roddy ‘Rowdy’ Piper escalated quickly as The Nature Boy and Hot Rod went into an argument.
- The interview ended with Ric Flair announcing that he was the President of the United States which Gene Okerlund immediately corrected and said “No! no! no! WCW!”.
#6 – Ric Flair as co-owner of WWF (2001)
After winning the Royal Rumble in 1992, Ric Flair joined the WWF for one year before losing to Mr. Perfect in a Loser Leaves the WWF match in January 1993 and returning to WCW.
Later that year, on the night following Survivor Series, the Nature Boy finally made his comeback to the WWF in grand style.

- A winner-take-all match the night before saw Team WWF defeat Team WCW/ECW, putting an end to the lengthy “Invasion” angle involving WCW and ECW.
- Nature Boy said that he became a co-owner when Vince McMahon’s children sold their shares to buy WCW and ECW, interrupting Vince McMahon as he was bragging about winning the battle on Raw with Ric Flair’s classic soundtrack.
- Flair and the newly crowned WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin would share a beer as the incredible sequence came to a close.
#5 – Ric Flair as Evolution co-founder (2003)
Ric Flair not only had one of the best singles wrestling careers in the history of the sport, but he also participated in some of the most powerful groups, the biggest of which is the Four Horsemen.
However, Flair joined Evolution as one of its original members, making it perhaps the most important quad of the Ruthless Aggression period of WWE. This happened a long time after the Horsemen split up.
- Ric Flair had already begun to join Triple H in the corner by the time late 2002 rolled around. A few months later, he would do the same with Batista.
- When Randy Orton joined, the group was officially named Evolution and given its name in January 2003.
- The group, which stood for professional wrestling’s history, dominated the WWE scene throughout the course of the following two years and won numerous titles.
#4 – When Ric Flair said “I will never retire!” (2007)
In November 2007, Ric Flair returned to Monday Night RAW after a brief break to address speculation about his potential as an in-ring performer. The WWE Universe rejoiced as The Nature Boy declared, “I will never retire.”

- Mr. McMahon disagreed, issuing a statement that The Nature Boy would be forced to retire if Ric Flair lost the following singles match.
- Ric Flair subsequently went on to triumph in a number of “career-threatening” contests over the following few months against opponents like Randy Orton, Triple H, Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, and Mr. McMahon.
- He went inside the ring to make an announcement and the crowd went silent. Ric Flair then started with the statement “I have to announce to you…” and then emphasizes that he will “Never” retire. That he will only retire when he died in the ring (an exaggeration perhaps?). But yeah, the fans went crazy and started chanting “WOO!”.
#3 – WWE WrestleMania 24 Ric Flair vs HBK Shawn Michaels (2008)
Early in 2008, when Ric Flair was getting close to 60 years old. Before finally fighting Shawn Michaels, who unwillingly accepted the challenge he first defeated Triple H, Umaga, and even Vince McMahon over the period of several months.
- Ric Flair entered the ring on March 30, 2008, in front of 70,000+ spectators and millions more watching on pay-per-view across the globe.
- The contest, which began with two participants exchanging stunning moves back and forth, gradually changed into an incredibly emotional story.
- The Heartbreak Kid looks at his idol, saying “I’m sorry, I love you,” and then executes his winning move, Sweet Chin Music, and pin him in the match’s closing seconds.
#2 – When Ric Flair survived a near-death experience due to alcoholism (2017)
WWE icon Ric Flair talked openly about his most recent near-death experience. He was awakened after ten days on life support, according to Flair in an ESPN interview. He recalled that even though he couldn’t speak, he could hear conversations about him. And that’s even frightening.
His daughters informed him that the doctor had advised them to say farewell to their father since he would not survive. The 68-year-old Flair talked about his battle with alcoholism and the road to recovery.
- On August 11, 2017, Flair’s fiance rushed him to the hospital because he was feeling sick. He was placed on life support and put into a medically induced coma on August 14, 2017.
- According to Flair, they told his kids that he had kidney failure, congestive heart failure, and that everything else had shut down.
- Flair, who currently has a pacemaker, is undergoing rehabilitation for his motor skills through physical therapy.
- He said that his struggle with alcoholism was largely caused by his alter-ego, the wrestler Ric Flair and that he primarily drank in social situations, particularly after matches when touring the nation with the National Wrestling Alliance. Flair claimed he never drank by himself.
Imagine him recovering from a coma, returning to WWE, and fighting younger superstars after this death scare. Fans including us certainly rooted for him at that moment. That story will definitely make his fans go “Woo!”.
#1 – The Final “Woo!” Nature Boy Ric Flair’s final match in WWE – (2022)
Is this emotional or what? In the final match of the living legend, The Nature Boy Ric Flair once again steps on the ring to fight for the last time (we hope). We can see during his entrance that this time it is different.
All the fans are excited and at the same time worried that he might break a bone or two as we can see him walk slowly and get inside the ring for the nth time.

- The match ended up in the classic bloody and messed-up face of Ric Flair. He won the match using his signature figure four lock and pinning his opponent. The ref counted to three, and the fans went crazy and started cheering for the old man.
- Flair then ended with an emotional speech and after which, he hugged his co-retirees Mick Foley and the Undertaker.
- As he walked out of the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, fans started cheering his name while chanting “Woo!” for the last time.
Ric Flair had many unforgettable moments in the years following his initial retirement from professional wrestling in WWE, including all the times he encouraged his daughter, Charlotte Flair, to carry on in his footsteps.
Ric Flair may have played in his final match today but in WWE, he can still handle fresh, youthful superstars as a manager.
