After Andre Braugher made a mark as Raymond Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the show’s cast and crew honor the late star’s life and career as they grieve his loss.

Terry Crews, who played Terry Jeffords, said in a post on Instagram that he was honored to have spent eight years of his life working with him in the series. “This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you,” he wrote.

He also thanked him for his wisdom, advice, kindness, and friendship and gave his deepest condolences to his wife, Ami Brabson, and family during this difficult time. “You showed me what a life well lived looks like,” he ended his post.

The show’s executive producers and co-creators, Dan Goor and Michael Schur, also released a statement (shared with Deadline) to reveal how lucky they were to have worked with Andre Braugher.

Like everyone who had known Andre, they said they were heartbroken by the news of his passing as they described him as one of the most talented dramatic actors in history. So, in the instance that he tried his hands in comedy, he quickly became one of the funniest people to do it.

But aside from great acting talent, he had brought happiness and joy to the people around him, while his infectious smile was the “greatest, brightest, and most wonderful.”

“Our thoughts and love go to his beautiful, amazing family, whom he loved more than anything,” they said. “We are grateful for the time we had with him.”

Andre Braugher might have gone too soon, but the legacy he left behind could never be forgotten. Though there will be a lot of actors who will come and go, no one can match or even surpass what he brought to the table.
